Arrow Totaled Z - Need Help

If you didn't read my last thread, here is what happened:

-Going about 50 km/hr (30 miles/hr) behind a BMW X5
-Light turns from green to yellow, BMW in front of me SLAMS on the breaks
-I stepped on the breaks but it was too late
-Thankfully the Zs front bumper went under the SUV from being so low to the ground that the frame of the car is in perfect condition
-Car was declared totaled (mainly due to both airbags being popped)
-I decided to keep the car and receive a lower settlement check from insurance

Now, I'm very sad about the condition of my car but very excited to work on it during the winter and get it back on the road for the spring/summer.

I need help trying to figure out what parts I need. Please take a second to look at the pictures and tell me what I need replaced so I can start searching.

All I have identified so far is:
-Both Headlights
-Radiator
-Air intake
-Hood, Bumper
-Engine cover

Appreciate any help.

Couple thoughts

Man our engines are ugly without a cover lol

Crazy how that was declared a total. Our airbags and Airbag computers must be damn expensive.

Things you may also need replaced:
AC condenser
Radiator frame (if it cant be straightened)
hood latch (if bent)

Hope I was some help

All i can say is that they gave me a few thousand dollars short of the actual price of the car (mainly because it only has 50,000km and they dont look at that) but when i bought the car back, they gave it to me for really, really cheap.

Why they decided that its totaled il never know. Its very minimal damage.

When you start pricing the replacement air bags and computer, you'll see why they totalled it. You may also need to replace the seatbelts if they have pretensioners, which would have been activated during the airbag deployment.

Have you checked with your insurance agent about getting coverage on a car with a salvage title? You may have to jump through some hoops getting the car inspected before you can drive it again, too.

Insurance companies know all about this stuff, and they know when to throw in the towel.

Ty for the comment. I have already gotten quotes for the airbags and both seatbelts.

Seatbelts - $100 ea
Both Airbags (with dash cover) - $1,100 (Brand new).
I will most likely buy used non-deployed airbags

Airbag modual - $100

Salvage cars need to be inspected until they can be declared rebuilt so I will have to go through government for that.

Overall, keeping the car was a great decision when I look at how much they gave it to me for. Few reasons why I came out on top:

-They dont look at the odometer (50,000km / 30,000 miles)
-When looking at parts needing to be replaced, they estimate NEW and from the Stealership prices. Im buying almost everything from the Z community used.
-I also saved a ton of money by avoiding tax (13% here in Ontario) because I didn't buy the car from anyone, I just decided to keep it

Sounds like you've done your homework and know what you're doing. Good luck with the project.

Just take the car to several body shops for estimates. They will tell you the parts and part#'s for what you need. Of course, you definately gonna have some hidden damage --Also, (easy to miss) I would make sure my radiator supports haven't been sheared by the impact.

Thanks for the comments. Damn that support is expensive. Living outside the states is a pain for this kind of stuff. Usually the shipping costs more than the damn product lol.

I'd check out that coolant reservoir also and make sure it isn't broken.

"Thankfully Z went under the SUV" ? LOL
Isn't it more dangerous to go under the SUV then hitting it's front bumper?

I rear ended the car so the front bumper of the SUV has nothing to do with it. Its just a point that i made that means the frame is ok (90% of the time it isn't in salvaged cars) and much less damage which makes it a little bit easier if I wanted to sell the car.

i meant your front bumper. Good thing the SUV wasn't a truck and not crush your windshield and roof haha
