Car battery was dead, and the car won't boost! Please help.

it's a 2008 350Z

i went on for a vacation for one month...and when i came back , my z won't start.....

so i called CAA..the CAA driver tried to boost my car...

but my z can not be boosted at all....

the driver said it might be the viper alarm system that i installed in my car that prevents the car from being boosted....

no matter what the driver does, my z has nothing, does not crank at all no lights, no nothing.

can anyone help???

If you connect power to the battery terminals, and the battery is connected to the starter, then the starter will get power.

An alarm, any alarm, interrupts the ignition.

If you're not even getting any lights with the jumper cables connected, you may have a shorted battery. Take it out, have it tested, or substitute a known good battery.

Alarms systems can be configured a few different ways to disable the car. It may be connected to interrupt power to the fuel pump (the engine will crank, but not start), or to interrupt power to the starter solenoid (engine won't crank).

thanks for all the input..

so what am i supposed to do ?

i asked the CAA guy...but he said getting a new battery isn't going to solve my problem

he said it might be the alarm system that prevent my car from running....which i doubt..

will a alarm system prevent a car battery from taking charge??

so what am i supposed to do ? i guess calling CAA is useless at this point...

my car is sitting in underground parking....should i tow the car to a dealership or garage to get it checked?

The car should still be under warranty so I would take it to a dealer. Personally I hate aftermarket alarms I pay enough in insurance why the hell should I pay more for an alarm!!!!

If you can tow it for free, do that. Otherwise, take the battery out and get it tested. If that's it, you can maybe handle it yourself.

get a new battery!

FaIRLaDiiZ Jan 16, 2011 06:13 PM

thanks...guys..
the CAA guy runned a test on my current battery...

the results are

Voltage:1.93V

time to charge
7hours@6A
4hours@10A
2hours@20A
Severely discharged..

however, i asked the CAA guy if getting a new battery could solve the problem...

he said it's not gonna help.....he said he already boosted my car using a powerful battery pack..but no lights no nothing...and he said it's probably becuase of the viper alarm system that locks out my car....OMG....

I would suggest that you continue to ask us what to do but then ignore our advice in favor of the all knowing tow truck driver...

That is probably a good idea since the car will not start.

I know this hasn't been suggested before, but I'm going to propose a radical solution. Get a new battery.
