Sputtering above 2200 RPM's

Okay, looking for some help with my 2005 350z, I’m not getting any error codes so I'm super confused what's going on and looking for some direction.

Here is what happened yesterday and the issues that I'm experiencing...

Was driving yesterday and had to pass a vehicle to get into the next lane, bought up the rpms to around 5-6k in second gear and as I did that car just stopped accelerating. I had no power above 2200 RPM, I could still change my gears and basically sit in 2nd gear revving up to 2200 rpm but after that the car would just make a puttering sound like it wasn’t getting proper fuel / air mixture.

I managed to get my car home in 2nd gear by keeping the rpms around the 2k mark, basically I let the car sit for a couple hours came back downstairs and the car started up completely fine without any issues...

Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Could it be the MAF or oxygen sensor? Ideally if something like this is going it would throw out codes? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey man,

I'm inclined to think that your MAF sensor needs to be cleaned or replaced. Cleaning your MAF is cheap and easy to do: First, remove MAF tube (refer to this 350Z MAF diagram if necessary). Then un-screw MAF assembly from MAF tube. Spray the access hole with Electrical Parts Cleaner. Then allow to dry out for about 15 minutes. Repeat as necessary.

If this doesn't rectify the issue then you may need to replace the MAF. Hopefully, this won't be the case with your ride because the MAF is very expensive at $500+ from the stealership :icon22:

Good luck dude!
