oil pressure drops at high speed
hi guys
temp 50f , oil pressure at idle 30psi , oil 20w50 because in summer it reach 130+(saudi arabia is a hell) just add 4 liters of oil without changing oil filter i was driving on highway at 135 for 1 minute i notice the oil pressure drops to 60 then i put the car in neutral the oil pressure goes to 10-15psi i slow down to 80 for 10 minute then i put the car in neutral the oil pressure goes to 30 so whats the problem should i change the oil pump my car 03 touring 6 speed i know i have horrible English. |

if its broken why it give me good idle reading |
Common problem. Please search oil pressure sending unit or oil pressure sensor.

Sounds about right, i would look into a oil cooler

When you say 135 do you mean mph or kph?
What mods done to the car? Whwn was your last oil change? Is the oil you added the same as the oil that is in the car? I would doubt its the stock pressure sending unit. Usually when they go bad people repost seeing it either pegged at max pressure or at zero. Its possible that you are heating the oil enough to cause the drop in pressure. As you slow your speed and lower the revs the oil recovers a bit and you see the pressure climb back to normal. I would recommend an oil change and pour some of the used oil through a coffee filter and look for flakes of copper (bearing material). If the oil is clean you should be OK. |
