Weatherstripping rotting, need help for replacement part!
 

Hey guys, been browsing the forums for years and just finally decided to join because I can't seem to find the information I need anywhere.

The weatherstripping on my windshield, in the corners only, is disintegrating and I need to replace it.

Anybody know the exact name, part number or even better can link me to the part itself on an online store?

You will need to replace the entire A pillar to fix this problem.

And god damn... expensive to fix some stupid rubber. Amazing design choice is amazing.

If you happen to need a windshield replacement, wait and see if the installer cracks them ;) Happened to me, and apparently to quite a few others...

i need to do this to my car on both sides and that is way to expensive for just one side, and it still needs to be painted

Wow, really? that part of the rubber is only on the finisher?

I have to assume it's just for pretties and not for sealing anything.

I would guess there is a way to find the rubber trim they use and simply glue it ourselves, the tricky part is the bottom when it gets wider... Anybody tried this in the past? Terrible mistake or doable?

Spending over $600 to replace pillars that are completely fine just to fix a silly rubber trim... I dunno, hard to justify it to myself.

I'll try to open it up sometime this week and and post photos... see how this thing is made -_-

If you guys want to be cheap about it you could use silicone or something to make a seal. Will look like crap though.

This is where your wrong my friend. It actually DOES seal off from water entering into the cabin area. In fact, Im about to seal off that area with some black silicone, when it rains hard, or when Im driving into the hard rain, or going thru a Car Wash, the water gets in that crack and drips at the top of the Tweeter Plastic part, and even gets pushed up top along the weatherstripping around the window and starts dripping there too. Want to know why? BC my passenger side windshield rubber strip is completely gone, and it drips pretty good when I wash my car, I have to spray that area pretty fast. Screw it, Im doing a bead of black slilicone this weekend. It'll look factory if you do it right.

Me too. They replaced my pillar piece a few years back :thumbup:

Yup, have the same issue. My old pillar leaked air and water. Had the pillar replaced and problem solved. The seals do work, they aren't just for looks.

That's good to know, mine seem to leak air but not really water until you open the door.

Any advice on repair or method if using a sealant? My car is leaking water into my cabin through these POS rotted weatherstripping. Not sure if you can seal up from inside and/or outside also. Thanks! Pictures appreciated.

I had them replaced TWICE due to installer incompetence, The first time they damaged them taking them off, and installed a green tinted window. When I insisted they install the blue tint the car had it was revealed he had glued them in so they got to pay for another set.
