5th gear popping out during deceleration
:(
Got a "new" CD009 box in my 350Z a while back, was popping out of 5th gear after WOT deceleration and making a whining noise in second. Second CD009 going in doing the same popping out of 5th gear but otherwise seems OK. Is this two dodgy boxes or something else that might be wrong? :icon9: First thing I was thinking is the plate under the rubber boot is either missing or not installed properly but can't find the article I read a few years back about fitting a short shifter that discussed the plate... Think it had something to do with reverse though, any pointers would be greatly welcomed... The Z is a 2003 that used to have a pretty bad 3rd gear (bang crunch) engagement on the OEM box... :icon14: The car is forged APS/TT with lightened flywheel and southbend uprated clutch. (if that could have anything to do with it) |
Did this ever get fixed for you OP? My G with the CD009 just starting popping out of 5th recently after my tune on built motor with TT also. I adjusted the plate you were talking about in my car today and it didn't help.

hi Shakuya88, never got it resolved. Seems to be a possibility that the newly found torq in the engine has knackered the main bearing? Seem to be a common enough problem on the CD009, the earlier had issues with syncros... I've not yet got my car back so can't really report how bad it is anymore. It doesn't happen every time, if you slam in 5th it stays in there. For me it's not a massive cause for concern since I'm mainly only going to use this car on track and wont really see 5th that much ;) Did you get a new flywheel and clutch as part of the TT tuneup?

I put a new trans in my 04 350z with an APS TT setup and it was fine for about 10k miles.. removed it to build the bottom end of the engine then re-installed the engine and trans and it started popping out of 5th gear on deceleration first trip around the block.. no idea how or why.. still have not found a reason why or a fix..

hey man sorry to barge in on dead threads but my 03’ model Z with a CD009 also has the same problem…popping out of 5th gear on deceleration. Ever figure out this issue? Mine also makes some noise going into reverse as well.

Do a shifter alignment and see if that helps.
I’ve done several, it doesn’t work so my guess it’s an issue within the bell housing. |
