Hatch doesn't sit right

I think I know the solution, just wanted to get some input while I'm unable to fix it.

So what I'm really trying to ask, is do you think that the reason it sits wrong is because the bracket on the damper is upside down? is it even upside down?

Bmurray350z Nov 14, 2012 07:24 PM

yes. flip the bracket = problem solved.

Great, only problem is the hatch is slightly dented, hope the person didn't flip the bracket because the dent rubs or something.
Either way I'll find out.
Thanks for the quick response!

yup, had the same problem. flip them and be done. if it does rub just put it back and ignore it. with you having a black car it's less noticeable than it would be on any other cars

Ha, my car had the same issue when I first bought it. I was livid that I didn't notice it until I paid the owner for the car and got home. Then, I lifted up the hatch and realized it was just the flipped bracket - not sure why it was like that, but with a simple flip, it fits like a glove now!

A common error when replace rear hatch lifts.Brackets installed wrong.
I'm surprised you did not break off the bottom ball fitting on the side
that had the upside down bracket.

Sadly it is. PO clearly weren't very good to the car.
I'm doing my best to get it pretty again.
Not going well with the vandalism and all :(
Though, that might turn into a full repaint, so maybe it'll be pretty again.

Flipped the bracket, and it sits perfect!
Super happy about it! haha
