350Z won't start. Please help!
Hey guys! So I'm new to my350z.com and let me first start off by saying hey and I'm very impressed by all the support there is here!
So my story starts last night. We bought a 2003 350z Touring Edition and had it shipped from Cali to GA. As soon as it gets here, it wouldn't start. The dealer assumed it was a battery issue but it's not. Car displays 14 volts when not on. The car won't start. We thought that maybe the security system locked us out and disabled the car? There is a strange clicking noise when we lock/unlock the doors and try to start the car. It won't even crank. When we turn the key to the on position, the red security light on the dash stops blinking. Does anyone know what the problem might be or has experienced something like this?
Please help! It's a beautiful car and it's just sitting there in our driveway lol
Thanks in advance!

Welcome and sorry to hear about your problem. It certainly sounds like there's a security system problem with your car. Since you just bought it, did the Z come with two sets of keys? If so, I assume you tried both sets with the same results.
You mentioned the local dealer was involved- did they hook it up to CONSULT and get any answers? If the security system doesn't read the right transponder code from your key, it won't enable the ignition.

i called him today and he told me that there is a way to disable the security system by locking and unlocking the door with the key and pressing the trunk ajar button? have you ever heard of this?
or would reprogramming my key help?

Owner reports to Consumer Guide---
"Cold-starting problems: The engine may not restart after a short trip (less than 10 minutes) in very cold weather (less than 10 degrees F), requiring replacement of the power distribution module. (2004)
Cold-starting problems: In very cold weather (10 degrees F or below) following a cold soak, the starter may not work after a short trip requiring replacement of the intelligent power distribution module. (2003-06)"
Neither condition would seem to apply to your situation, might give you some things to consider tho'. Good luck with your Z.

I'm really willing to bet you need your new key programmed/reprogrammed.

hey guys! first off, thanks for all the responses and help!
we figured out that it was the battery after all. apparently it was so dead that it wouldn't even jump. it had just enough charge to operate all things inside.
and also, the person who owned it before me apparently installed some kind of "push to start" function. the key wouldn't have started the car anyway haha.
thanks for all the help and suggestions!
