P2A00 Bank 1 Air Fuel Ratio sensor
 

So my wife has a problem with her 2008. After an earlier code (can't recall) we changed out the cats, and about 100 or so miles later the car threw this code indicating the passenger side A/F ratio sensor is bad.

I've picked up a Denso 234-9072, and installation of the sensor itself appears to be quite straightforward, though I haven't removed the engine cover and looked closely at the area yet. I have looked at photos though, and one gives me pause:

The passenger side A/F ratio sensor harness plug - on the right in this picture - appears very far forward. Will I be able to reach it without removing the intake manifold?

Are we talking about the oxygen sensors? They go from the exhaust to the coupler.

A/F sensors are in front of the cats - they are pictured on the two downpipes in my original post. In that pic, the intake manifold has been removed, but you can clearly see where the A/F sensors plug in, and it appears they would be covered by the manifold. :/

P2a00 code , has anyone finally figured out why this code keeps coming back ? We replaced both Cats and all 4 sensors. 2 before and 2 after the cats. Code still returns .

Mine was a combined P2A00 and P2A03, was yours running lean? I found no leaks on mine buy spraying carb cleaner around intake and manifold area. The next thing I did was pour a bottle of Fuel injector cleaner and SES hasn't come back. I literally spent days googling and reading FSM to outsource the issue and attempting to troubleshoot it, such a PIA but I am glad the SES is gone for now.

Both bank 1 sensors can be removed without taking anything other than the intakes off. Youll need a long extension and a universal to get to it. you also might need to use a torch because of how ****ing hard that **** is to remove. i gave up and paid a shop to put it in for 125. not worth the hassle. also the P2A00 and P2A03 codes are a *****, ive heard people just ignoring it because they cant get it to go away. could be your AFR is off, but unless you have a gauge youll need to take it to a tuner to get that checked and fixed.
