350z won't crank/start... Possible Ignition issue

So i started my car today and drove about 15 miles away, I parked it went to store for about 10min. When i went back into my car to start it the first time my foot let off of the clutch pedal and then the inevitable being that the car would not start. After my second attempt of trying to start the car, nothing happened at all. The symptoms that i have are that similar to the widow heater fuse blowing out, i have no; radio, the heater motor doesnt blow air, the illumination for my ODO trip doesn't light up, hazards button doesn't work, and non of my three central gauges light up, only with the exception of the battery gauge reading like 12-14ish volts. I searched around the web and saw that this could possibly be the mirror heater fuse blowing out, which i did replace and still to nothing happened.
Im in dire need of some sort of assistance because this is my DD and its kinda parked in a shady spot of town.

Call a tow truck to deliver it to the dealership and call someone for a ride home.

Ttt

BCM I'm guessing. Any heater fuses should be on their own circuit so I'm not getting your "similar to the widow heater fuse blowing out" comment. Was the heated mirror fuse blown or did you replace it just on account of because? A blown fuse is pretty obvious.....:dunno:

There were previous issues where people would blow the heater mirror fuse and have very similar symptoms like mine was all i meant. Its odd because the car doesn't even register when i try to start it. Its almost as if the ignition doesn't even register

Battery

The issue is the wires going to your battery, check for corrosion and wiggle the wires a little to get it to start. I had the same issue the other day, my connections are loose because they're old (got over 100k+) take it to a mechanic if thats the issue and he can tell you what parts you need.

WTF does that mean?

The only thing I can get out of that is: Nothing happens when I turn the key.

If that's the case, it sounds like a loose or corroded connection on one of the big wires near the battery.

Ok let me re-phrase that.
When i put the key into the ignition and turn it two clicks (click... Click) every single one of my cluster lights come on; vdc, slip, oil, battery, check engine light, the car doesn't even do the normal beep beep sound. the lights for the ODO dont illuminate and the three gauge pods don't turn on either. When i step on the clutch and turn the key nothing happens, the starter doesn't even kick, there is not a single sign of the Z wanting to get pass the current limp mode that its in.

winchman Sep 4, 2013 02:00 AM

It's not in limp mode. You've either got a dead battery, or something is seriously limiting the amount of current that can get from the battery to anything else.

Has the car ever been flooded with water or exposed to salt? How old is the battery? Did it crank with gusto the last time it was successfully started? Have you tried jumping it with another battery?

oldschool350z Sep 4, 2013 02:53 AM

My first thought was battery.

Zee-u-later Sep 4, 2013 06:39 AM

Never flooded, no exposure to salt, and yes the very last time it started right up no problem

Syner Sep 4, 2013 06:53 AM

Jeebus, how is this going on? It is not in limp mode.

You've been told an area to check - cables are likely corroded, or your battery is shot. Did you clean the posts and connections?

KornerCarver Sep 4, 2013 08:27 AM

Are you using the key that you have always used?

winchman Sep 4, 2013 09:46 PM

^^ Excellent suggestion. Immobilizer might be the problem.

Zee-u-later Sep 6, 2013 11:35 AM

Ok so i think i found the problem. So on the positive terminal of the battery, there is this type of distribution block that has fuses within it. This distribution block is like one whole piece where the fuses and everything are within it. Its black and in an L shape, it has 5 fuses (built in), two clips (each clip with two wires) that run wires into the firewall. There is a fuse for each one of those wires that run into the firewall (so a total of four fuses on the side of this distribution block) and there is a fuse right next to where your actual positive terminal connection is at. My fuse blew for the one next to the positive terminal connection but all of the other four fuses are still okay. The thing is i have no idea what this part is even called, and it doesn't appear that i can go and replace just one fuse whereas i have to replace the whole unit. Can anybody chime in?

Zee-u-later Sep 6, 2013 11:59 AM

Its called the "fusible link holder"

winchman Sep 6, 2013 08:34 PM

It looks like there are some parts that can be replaced.

replacing the fuse would get you going, but usually fuses don't blow unless you have a problem so find the reason why this happened.
