Extremely high RPM's from cold weather
It was about 7 degrees this morning and this is what happened.
I tried to start my car and it revved up to 4k right away, then 5k, then 6k. I shut it down and tried again when I got off of work today. It was about 23 degrees and my car did the same thing. Each time I started it I didn't let it run even 5 seconds because it scared the shhhh out of me. I have a Vortech V2 supercharger. Hopefully when it warms up this weekend, supposed to be 60 degrees, I can get it running normal. |
I would say about 2k is normal when cold and at startup. I havnt driven my z in months so can't remember.
But that is way too high.... Maybe your throttle is stuck open? |
3 degrees by me and i just started mine up for the first time in a week and it jumped to 2k but came down to 1500 within a few seconds
That is definitely scary especially with a SC, checking to see if the throttle body got iced into an open position isn't a bad idea for something to check.
Maybe an ecu reset, throttle relearn, idle air volume learning.
Yeah a. Ecu reset might help as well. I just can't believe how high it's going on it's own
Try blipping the throttle once.
I'll try to start it up after work today and get a video.
I started mine in -23 with a -50 wind chill, it only rev'd to 1700-1800 for about 15-20 seconds then went down to about 1100-1200. I would say there is something wrong on yours. **** was so cold my stereo wouldn't turn on until it had warmed up about 7 min after start up...
Cold can really mess stuff up, hell my ipod doesn't turn on lol.
Sounds like a different issue, most likely mechanical. Who instal the super charger? |
I fixed the issue, I reset my tune, I just switched it to regular. However I never switched it in the first place which I found kind of odd. |
