Dash brake light won't come on when E brake is engaged
I couldn't find any threads about the dash brake light staying off, only about them staying on. When I engage the E brake my dash indicator light doesn't turn on. I know it's not the bulb because it will come on when I turn the key in the ignition. I'm assuming it's the parking brake switch, I was just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? If so is it usually just a quick fix by cleaning the switch connection or does it generally need to be replaced?

i would try cleaning or replacing the switch

I wouldn't even worry about it. Do you need a light to tell you the parking brake handle is poking you in the arm?

I'm OCD about stuff too but it's just a parking brake light.... If it had the pedal style like in pickups then I could understand it.
I've always been in the habit of setting the brake every time I park and releasing it every time I get in the car that I don't pay attention for a light anymore. My Chevy had the light stay on all the time. I also got used to the VDC off light being on all the time when I drive so it doesn't bother me either. I still have to have the Nissan emblem facing up while the car is running though. I cant drive if it's upside down. |
