Help! Have oil under my pan but don't know where it's coming from!!'
1 Attachment(s)
So recently I was driving from my place to my sisters house, about a 2hr drive.
When I got there I noticed a bit of smoke coming out the side of the wheels, so I jacked up the car and noticed my oil pan had oil all around it. Went to autozone and bought a oil pan gasket and some rtv silicone, took the pan off and saw the old silicone was just ripped apart.. Replaced it then everything was fine. A week later I noticed I had oil on it again! I guess I over tightened the screws on the pan and ripped the gasket. Changed it again, lifetime warranty came in handy hahah.. So now, I have oil drip again, it's just a tiny drop when the car is parked but I don't see where it's coming from. But there's a hose that has a little tear on it, it connects to the right under the oil filter. Maybe the oil is leaking from it and while I'm driving it just gets all over ??? Anyone ever had this happen? |
I would clean everything with brake cleaner. Then get underneath and you should be able to spot exactly where it's coming from

Didn't even cross my mind to do that.

Thanks man , Idk why I didn't think of that. I'm gonna do that and see what happens. It's a headache dealing with this issue. And not knowing where it's coming from. Hopefully it's just that hose or if it's the oil pan gasket again then that's not that bad. |
Looks like its oil cooler o ring that needs to be replace

I would say the o-ring as well.
I chased a tiny leak very similar to yours for a year. I re-sealed the oil pan TWICE before I finally tried replacing the o-ring and then my problem was fixed. I'd replace that and see what happens. |

I bought it from the dealer. Was under $10 if I remember correctly

I would not go crazy with the brake cleaner..as it's not good for rubber hoses.

Oil leak fixed
Found oil leak to be from valve cover on 2006. Plastic cover was warped and didn't seal. Problem solved.
