Car gas pedal giving no response

Okay so i had to get towed back home because while driving my car today it shut off an didnt want to turn back on. I was going easy about 15mph and it suddenly felt like my gas pedal "wasn't working" i would press on it but it gave no response. When the car came to a complete stop it shut itself off and didnt want to turn back on. This happened to me a few days ago and some things i did was change my fuel pump, put all new intake gaskets in, and re-toruqe everything back down to specs and yet still having this problem. Where are some places i can start poking around at

Any DTC?

i just checked and the codes that came up were p0102 p0113 p0223 and p0123. i erased the codes and the car actually stood on for about 10 minutes before stalling out on its own. any ideas

i used maf sensor cleaner and also cleaned out my intake filter and went back into my fuel pump assembly to make sure everything was fine. nothing seemed to help so far

Did you actually look up the codes?

yes p0102 mass or volume air flow circuit low input, p0113 intake air temp sensor 1 circuit high input, p0223 throttle/pedal position sensor B circuit high input, p0123 throttle/pedal position sensor A circuit high input

So... It was throttle position? --Spike

Sounds like you need a new pedal assembly to me. You should try watching the live data with a good scanner that will actually show you throttle and pedal position.

Those codes stump me. Usually when there are multiple codes spread out like that, the root cause is more fundamental such as a bad ground instead of failures in multiple components. Maybe someone else have experience this before and can chime in.

What is battery voltage when engine is off and when engine is on? Are battery terminals clean and tight?

myfirstzcar 07-08-2014 01:53 PM

That's a very good point^. Multiples can be easy, or they can be a nightmare!

I willing to bet your maf and air temp sensor codes are popping up because either the pedal is junk, the TB is junk, or you have a wiring issue between the two....I'm starting to think the TB is bad, because you're trying to give it juice and the ecu sees what your foot is doing, but the TB is not responding.....That's my theory anyway.
I have to say that because I know Zakmartin will accuse me of being stupid if I don't.

thanks for the advice! my buddy is coming over tomorrow and im going to swap his TB on my car to see what the result is. my battery terminals are fine as well as the voltage and all my grounds. hopefully i can come up with an answer tomorrow. thanks for all the help everyone

It will most likely be the PAS (pedal accelerator sensor) I encountered the same problem, and ended up buying a whole new pedal assembly and a new TB, make sure after you disconnect or install a TB or the pedal sensor, you will have to make the ECU relearn these, google it or look on youtube how to do these, every case is different, I'm just giving you what solved my problem
