350z won't start or control windows.
So confused by this!
Car is a 2008 Grand touring 6m with factory navigation. Good friend of mine was in town to visit and wanted to check out my 350. I jumped in and started it and it ran perfect (as it always has in the past) and after the car warmed up I revved it easily from idle to 2500rpm. We shut the car off and after looking around it for a minute he jumps in the driver seat, leaves the door open and advances the key so the accessories come on. Rolls the windows down, doesn't start the car and starts playing with the factory navigation system. Maybe 30-45 seconds later the navigation screen goes from daytime mode,to nighttime mode, and the radio display goes dim. Tried starting the car and it just cranks over. TPS light on the dash is the only thing flashing with the key fully advanced,no CEL. Windows will roll down if you hold the unlock on the fob,and roll up by turning the key in the door and holding it to the right for a few seconds, but the buttons are useless. Security light in the dash has a steady pulse, but doesn't lock on..just always flashes. I tried the ECU reset procedure and it didn't help..if anyone has any other ideas please let me know! Summer is to short to have a Z not running! |

Replacing one FC is going to do nothing if you don't replace all 5. |

It must be able to handle 1.21 giggawatts though or you will just burn it up like the old one.

It's not the battery, but thanks for the suggestion. Any other ideas? Is there a lockout for the immobilizer with the key in the ignition for a certain period of time? Like I said,he advanced it to the "on" postion (first click of the ignition) and played with the nav. Screen changed mode, radio went dime and the windows stopped working. Anti theft light just has a steady pulse and doesn't lock on solid at any time. Could the chipped key have fried?
I also checked every fuse in the 1st and 2nd fuse block. Even with the key advanced the windows won't roll up or down with the switches. Radio display is dim and doesn't brighten until you turn the headlights on. Car just cranks over,no sputter or indication it's going to start. |
Do you have a second key? Have you tried it?

Found the issue. When I did my first search to find the fuse blocks,It only showed the to two located near the battery. Found the interior fuse block in the driver side footwell. Blown ignition switch fuse. Replaced and fired right up

good to know that!
