Question about 2006 350z's burning oil and TSB
 

Hey I know there is a whole sticky on this but does anyone know if the TSB still applies? I know i called nissan maybe a few months ago and I believe they told me none were active. My 2006 is definitely burning oil, which is fine I can buy more oil, but it is annoying.

The dealer will not care if there is a tsb. They will only cover if it's a recall. Some will cover a tsb out of good faith but it's rare.

Expect the run around and denial if you go to the dealer or call Nissan corporate.

When I went to Honda with a tsb the customer service person at corporate was no help and was shocked I knew of it. She was like that was sent out to the techs not general public I told her I wanted it fixed because obviously it's an issue. Lets say it didn't get fixed.

So yea OldSchool, as long as just keep adding oil every so often Nothing should come of it correct? And also change the filter ever so often

Well to be honest, it depends on how much oil it's using.. If you run too low you will do some serious damage to your engine. I personally wouldn't own a car that uses oil and would sell at a loss then get something more reliable.

I can't remember what the issue was with the rev-up engines but Nissan really doesn't stand behind their products.

I would check the oil every week depending on how much you drive.

Your car is around 8 years old, did you purchase an extended warranty, or have a great relationship with the dealership? If not dont count on it.
Nissan replaced my motor, but I was under the 3 year, 36K factory warranty. No hassle at all, they performed the consumption test and after 1K miles ordered a new engine. No arguments or fighting at all, which if you read the thread was typical of most people.

liqui moly Motor oil saver seemed to solve my 1qt/500 mile rev-up consumption. I added 100ml to my last OCI and it significantly slowed consumption.

Changed with 0w-40 and 1/2 bottle of MOS and I have only burned 1/4qt in the past 1k miles.

In this case your only option is adding oil or a rebuild. The esters in MOS seemed to have helped significantly in my specific case.

Same Boat, I just check the oil every week and add some. I seem to get slightly less consumption after installing the aftermarket oil cooler. the cooler helps keep the viscosity in the oil and not thin out based on excessive heat. The oil cooler did not resolve the issue, just helped.

Funny thing is, the car still made good power on the dyno even with the oil consumption.

How do you know if your car is burning oil? Aside from you consuming an abnormally large amount of oil. Are there any other signs? Loss of performance?

Yeah Nissan/Infiniti rarely honors a TSB. Theres a TSB on the muffler falling apart on the G37 coupe/sedan on the inside. I printed out the TSB, brought it to them and they pretty much just laughed at me. Even tho I have the extended warranty and everything.

There insane if they think Im paying 900 for a OEM muffler plus labor.

Your tail pipes are a good indication. Even if you clean out your tail pipes they will blacken with burn oil shortly after cleaning.
