2003 350z Replacing Starter Help
So my car was having slow cranking before it started. Now it doesn't start at all. Just clicks once but all electrical components works. HeadLights don't dim when I try to start the car. Just a loud SINGLE click.
New battery has been installed with a new negative battery cable. All terminals and cables are cleaned. I can hear the fuel pump feeding and priming the engine. My assumptions that it is the starter since it's a single click. I took the old one out and took it to my local auto parts shop and it failed the testing. So I purchased a new one. But when I was taking out the starter I was able to detached it from the solenoid and take it out in two pieces. Now that I got a new one. Will I be able to just slide the new one in for reinstallation or do I have to do it in two pieces? Not sure if there's enough room to slide the starter and solenoid in one piece. Unless I have to remove some more stuff. Does anyone know on the forums if there's a DIY. I tried looking. Thanks in advance |
you will need to drop the cat brace, but it will go right into place

Your car might not have it because people tend to remove them when they install test pipes.. So if yours are missing and you have aftermarket or no catalytic converters its common.
