Won’t Start - Steering Interlock?
2003 Tack model, 103000 miles, well maintained, just usual wear issues until now. Girlfriend was out running errands, 90 degree day everything was fine. After third stop the car would not start. Key turns, all normal lights in acc mode come on, fuel pump engages but will not make any effort to start. Checked battery voltage and connections, both good. The only thing I found out of normal is the steering wheel is not locked up even with key out of car. The steering wheel will move the tires both ways until it reaches the far right position at which point it will lock up and not release until the key is inserted and turned to acc. I’m guessing this is some sort of VAT interlock issue in the steering column? Mechanic or locksmith ? Any ideas would be appreciated.
