Default Help! My350z won’t run

Hi I have an 07 Nissan 350Z. About a week ago we came home from vacation and the car wouldn’t start. We replaced the fuel pump relay and the car started right up and ran perfectly for a whole day. Next morning we go to start the car and it won’t start. We put in another new relay and it started but about halfway to work the car died. It started back up and then while on the highway it died again. He couldn’t get it started after that. Car would crank but wouldn’t turn over. We let it sit for 30 minutes and then the car would turn on but wouldn’t stay running long. I eventually got it home but while trying to drive it the rmps were all over the place and when I came to a stop the car would die every time. Over the last week or so we have replaced the cam sensors and the crank sensor, we replaced several relays, both throttle bodies and negative battery cable because it was loose. We can now sometimes get the car started and when we do it runs for 15 minutes then dies. Right before it dies when you push in the gas the car does NOT rev up. Nothing happens when you push in the gas. Car is hard to start after it does die. It will sometimes start and sometimes not. Any thoughts? The scanner is pulling codes p1233, p2100, p2101, p0507 and p1290

My thoughts are that with that many codes appearing you need more help than what any of us behind keyboards can provide. I'd start by paying the diagnostic fee at your local Nissan dealer (usually a hour at the posted labor rate) to get an trained technician with a CONSULT III system to go through your Z. Make sure you are assigned an experienced tech with Z33 training, and get ready to make some decisions before committing to have the dealership repair anything.

Second, when you post a question like this, it's always useful to list important details like overall mileage, whether you're the original owner, and what type of mods are on the car. Also, are there any other clues as to what happened in the past that might shed light onto the current problem. For example, a rebuilt Z with a salvage title might mean several systems are no longer working correctly, or a Z with high miles may have a myriad of parts failures.

It sounds alot like the fuel pump itself is going out. One of the main indications is hard to start when hot, but after sitting for a while it fires up.

As for all of the engine codes, dying while driving, and running rough can cause codes to pop up, when there may not be an issue with what it says.

I would probably replace the fuel pump, reset the codes, and see if it runs normally then, as its not that expensive of a part/ not hard to change.

Thank you for your reply! Overall mileage is 102,000, there aren’t any modifications on the car and we are the 3rd owner of the car. We bought from a Nissan dealer about 3-4 years ago. It is not a salvage title or rebuilt engine.

Thank you for your reply, the fuel pump was our next thought, we just wanted to see if anyone else had an opinion on the matter. When the car dies after idling for 15 minutes, when you turn the car to the “on” position, you can’t hear the fuel pump prime. We let it sit for a good hour yesterday after it died and still couldn’t hear the fuel pump kick on before trying to turn the car over. It wouldn’t start after that and we haven’t tried since. Going to take another look when we get home from work!

i agree with DK, i would pay for the diagnostic and know exactly what is wrong instead of throwing parts at it. good luck

Did you bother to look up those codes?

P1233- Electronic Throttle Control Function
P2100- Throttle Control Motor Relay
P2101- Electric Throttle Control Function
P0507- Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected
P1290- Throttle Control Motor Relay

Not thinking its fuel pump related.

Hi 813- yes we looked up the codes, p1233 said CNG fuel line system along with electric throttle control, all other codes were throttle related which is why We started with replacing both throttle bodies, throttle relay and throttle fuse. We also did an idle control reset and still have the same result.

It really sounds like fuel starvation. The fuel pump is the main culprit, but it might be a vacuum leak somewhere along the line. The engine is not getting fuel.

My car is acting very similar and threw all of the same codes except the one about idle speed. I’m almost positive it’s a throttle body actuator issue or relay for the actuator. my problem fixed itself after continuing to crank the car and clearing the codes when it stalled about 5 times. But it just did it again and the only 2 codes it threw at first were p1233 and p1290 I believe. They were both throttle body codes for bank 2 throttle body. And then after I tried to restart the car a couple of times the rest of the other codes showed back up. So I’m pretty sure I either need a new throttle body or a new throttle control motor relay. You could try that too. I read somewhere else that their IPDM was bad and it caused a similar problem. EDIT: Sorry I just read that you changed throttle bodies already. But yea I would look into the IPDM being the culprit in your case.

So I replaced my throttle control motor relay with my fog lamp relay because I have no fog lamps anyway and that fixed my problem. I wish you the best of luck figuring yours out if you haven’t already

Default Same problem

Hi, I’m having the same problem with the difference of when it starts the engine acts up after seconds and stops within 30 seconds. My car is 2012 g37x and has 84000 miles. What did you do to fix the problem?

My car is doing the same thing and throwing almost all of the same codes. Did you ever figure out the problem?
