tranny question's
I have read some post's that descibe 'grinding'. Is the grinding after you are in grear or is it when you are changing gears and it 'misses the next gear? I am a new owner of a 2003z and I get the grinding when going from 1st to second or second to third periodically but I am interpretting this as not adjusting to the tight shift ratio compared to my Honda? I do not get any knocking sound or anything like that? Am I just a newbie or is this something for concern?

It is when you are changing gears and thrusting it into the gate you hear this loud crunching grinding sound with the shifter feeling the vibration from it. Some people have stated that they cannot even put the car into gear in really bad cases.
If you are not sure, you most likely do not have it. It will be blatant the moment symptoms appear. Enjoy! |
The grinding will mostly happen when it's cold. So if you get a lot of grinding when the tranny is cold, but stops when it warms up......you have a bad tranny. It's not your driving etc is what I mean.
