My new in dash DVD setup. The Bose can be changed!!!
Here it is.
I used the Farenheit 7inch screen in the cubby hole The head unit is the new JVC KD-DV6200 DVD/CD/MP3/USB/etc. reciever Fit like it was made for the car. And for all of the people who are worried about the wiring for the Bose stereo to a diff head unit, there is nothing to worry about, it wired right up. Thanks from help from Mike at Zenclosures!! http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2_141_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2_142_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2_143_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2_144_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2_145_full.jpg |

This is what I was told from other 350Z owners who have switched to an aftermarket headunit as well as audio installers. It is "possible" to just plug in an aftermarket headunit to the exsiting 350Z plugs, but that does not mean it is the best way of doing it.
If you do not buy a module to interface with the aftermarket headunit and the older plugs, then you could run into some some sound issues that you would mind or not mind depending of how much you are an audiopfile. One issue for example is the level of sound, your volume knob could be very sensitive, so when you put the volume up one notch, you might get twice or three times the volume you wanted. Anyways, this was what I gathered on my reasearch so I opted to buy a module. |
mine sounds great.. thank u though

im wondering if you can keep your stock bose or non-bose headunit and what not... buy that screen off ebay and stick it in your cubby.. and purchase this http://cgi.ebay.com/FARENHEIT-Portab...QQcmdZViewItem off ebay and place it somewhere, like behind the seat etc.. ?
can it be used for navigation too or not? |
im curious how you hooked up the bose to work right with the aftermarket headunit. i installed a pioneer deck on my last Z but the subwoofer did not work. What wire did i miss to send an output to the sub?

6swhite, you could absolutely do that. all you would need to buy is a audio inverter. The audio RCA that would run out of the dvd player would go to this box and would play over the radio, kinda like how old school cd changers worked. I had a setup like this in my 240sx, but i used a PS2 and it worked alright. Its tough because of all the wires running through the car, it created some interfernce. but money can fix anything and a simple trip to radio shack to purchase a noise blocker thing and it was all set.

Again, what is needed to correctly hook-up the BOSE to the aftermarket radio?

Here's an odd question... I have an in-dash motorized DVD player (pioneer). I like the stealth/OEM look of the farenheit setup. Is there anyway to install the farenheit screen and link what the pioneer plays on its screen to the new screen that would be hidden in the oem hole?
For example, the pioneer will display "screen savers" when a normal CD is being played, etc. I listen to normal CDs and would like something displayed on the farenheit display, as opposed to it just sitting black. Is this something that happens internal to the DVD player I have or is it something I could wire to play on the farenheit? Setup looks sick... The display of the Farenheit is impressive as well for a $109 monitor. |
