PBN85's 07 Magnetic Black Z

Hey guys, I picked this up 2 weeks ago, and have since done a few things. Just a few more things to go and I'm done. I'm happy with the performance as it is currently. The car came with the NISMO catback and CCFL sidemarkets, so that's a plus. Here's what I did so far:

- LEDs in license plate lights
- Mangowalk shorty antenna
- INGS replica front lip
- Tein S-tech with Tokico d-spec (installing them tomorrow)

I just painted the lip myself today. It was my first time painting a lip, but I followed proper procedure and sanded, primed, and then painted with a few coats. I give it a 7/10 because if you look closely you can definitely tell it's an amateur job. Painting is a skill, really. It's not as easy as it looks.

Installed (using double sided tape and screws):

And I think that's about it. I'll post some pics tomorrow after the spring/strut combo is installed. Trying to get all this finished before I start grad school in a week because I know I won't get time then!! I did do maintenance before the mods though...differential fluid, gear oil and engine oil all using Amsoil. The last mod I want to do is the JWT clutch/flywheel combo. I had it on my 03 6mt maxima and I loved the way it revved up afterwards.

Lets see how low the lip gets after the suspension is installed. If I end up scraping a lot I'll just sell it here in the classifieds. But I really like it so far :). Feedback is always welcomed as well!

besides the bottom of the lip it will be fine. Your gonna bottom it out after you in stall your springs all the time believe me. Its really not a big deal, I got past the primer on my chargespeed v2 front bumper.

And...it's dropped! I love the drop actually. It's not low enough to some of you guys, but I'm past the whole slammed look. I had it on my last car and not looking for that kind of look again. The s-techs offer the perfect drop for me actually.

Looks good! I like the look of the stock wheels, but some spacers to push them out would set the car off nicely.

IMO more important than getting the car super low is keeping the front-to-rear stance proper, i.e. a little bit raked forward as it came from the factory, with more wheel gap in the back than in the front. To me that's what gives the car its aggressive look. Looks like you've maintained that nicely with those springs.

thanks man! You nailed it right on the head. I always like the back to be slightly higher than the front. I hate the saggy rear end look, and that's why I went with s-techs.

Here's the example I was thinking of where the stock 06+ wheels look great with spacers. This is forum user cheshirecat1979, hopefully he doesn't mind me posting this here:

Wow! You've convinced me on spacers. I'm going to look up his posts and see which mm spacers he went with. That looks so perfect. Thanks man

No problem. If I ever go back to the stock wheels I'm doing the same thing. Make sure you post up your final spacer choice in this thread so it's documented. Good luck!

awesome, definitely will do that. I got to do my brakes (pretty bad too) so I'll pick up some nice spacers and do them at the same time.

30mm rear 25mm front..go with 235/40rear 215/40 front

cheshires car is a great example to build from...he had them stock rims for the longest time but his car still looked nice.

That's gotta be one of the nicest stockish Zs I've seen. Nice job OP!

BoomerZ33 Aug 25, 2011 11:58 AM

nice job. the lip looks great.

You may want to consider even going 38mm spacers in the rear and 30mm up front...When I had my 06 z, I went 30mm and 25mm and it wasnt enough...so I went to 30mm and 38mm...Heres a pic of my old z (right) and my nismo...you can see the "stance" with the 30/38mm spacers...

thanks for the comments everyone. Brandon3434, did you have to roll your fenders? Would I need new studs too if I were to get those same measurement spacers?

brandon3434 Aug 25, 2011 01:28 PM

^^^I did roll my fenders...but thats never a bad idea...And I had the Ichiba V2 spacers with built in studs so no you dont HAVE to...I don't even think they make studs for that size of a spacer. Go here:
