you drop the $1500 for that hood or you get a deal? I remember I wanted that hood so bad back in 09' when I was getting all the work done to my car.

$1000 shipped

This weekend was BBK time. I didn't know if i was getting myself into a day of cursing and bloody knuckles. luckily no seized bolts & no real issues. The hardest part was cutting the rear dust shield.

used the one person bleeder method. didn't see much air coming out as i pressed the brakes. (filmed with iPhone). Pretty simple process. Pedal is firm (no air trapped in lines) & I'm still getting used to the new brakes.

installed the valve stems on the new TEs. no real instructions as to how much to tq them to, so i torqued until the first grunt. :icon17: Ill get the tires swapped over sometime this week.

Why not go with Akebono? Bigger and for the price people charge for the Brembos it's the same price for a lot newer equipment

I shopped around quite a bit. PMd z1 on here for discount pricing, had some discussion & never heard back from them. The entire setup i got was under $1k, so I'm pleased with it.

HRMoneyPit 05-15-2016 04:47 PM

Not bad but that's one reason I went with Akebono. I paid $1,200 with 300 miles in everything for front and rear with the rotors and HP plus pads
I ain't mad at you. Just making small talk

sofakiing 05-15-2016 04:54 PM

i was looking for a deal like that. :D

mostly just having trouble finding F&R for any kit. then i would see conflicting comments about StopTechs fitting 03s & 06+ so i balked on any used StopTechs.

HRMoneyPit 05-15-2016 04:59 PM

I had a odd issue with the adapter bracket bolt rubbing the back of the rotor only 40% which was odd. Couple times with a grinder and problem gone.

I agree with you cutting the shields sucks. Your came out a million times cleaner then mine. I debated taking out the hub and removing it right. But meh

sofakiing 05-15-2016 05:46 PM

The pic above is of the front hub. The rears are pretty hacked. lol

HRMoneyPit 05-15-2016 05:48 PM

Yeah like I said. Your were better then mine lol

I used metal scissors and it didn't come pretty

kno 05-18-2016 08:12 AM

It came out great dude. Did you repaint the rear dust shield before reinstal so the exposed metal won't rust.?

rustyschopshop 05-18-2016 08:50 AM

Nice update, glad to see you got them installed. For removing my rear dust sheild I drilled out the spot welds on the backing plate.

was seriously the most frustrating part of the whole process. not because it was difficult, but so irritating.

kno 05-18-2016 05:12 PM

It is specially with them metal scissors

HRMoneyPit 05-18-2016 09:56 PM

I used the metal scissor too. Ugh
