As for water repellent I just fill a spray bottle with rain-x and use that on the car, but I don't drive the Z in the rain anyways.

Noted! I'll go buy a few more cans then just in case. I can always return the extra's. Thanks!

That's a good idea. I've been happy with the results from Kleen Freaks. I use this one:

So I plasti-dipped my wheels yesterday. I threw my winters on while I was painting them. They came out ok. Not sure I'm in love with them, but they look better than the curb-rashed and paint fading/peeling that was going on before.

Haven't posted here in a bit, just a small update.

Installed my Nismo 380RS pedal, still getting used to it for heel/toe shifts.

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....13fbce2287.jpg

Bought the Nismo GT Titanium Shift knob from RHDJapan and installed it last night. I absolutely love it :bowrofl:
It's slightly weighted and just pops into gears so much better than my Tomei one.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....fc5e803f9b.jpg

I was also super impressed with RHDJapan. I ordered the shift knob Saturday and it arrived in Toronto Thursday night. It was well packaged and they provided multiple updates while it was being shipped until it arrived. Top notch work, and I will be ordering from them in the future. Faster/Cheaper than ordering out of the States!

I ordered a Z-speed Aluminum Shroud for under the engine bay from Whitehead Performance, that should be in next week and I'll install that while I do my oil change.

Cheers, Happy Labour Day Weekend from Toronto! :chug:

Happy Belated Canadian Thanksgiving! I did some maintenance I've been slacking on over the long weekend.

Got a CEL next morning, had one of the tech's reset my idle and it was all good again.

Next UP:
-Reseal/Polish Headlights
-Mount Winter's :icon9:

chewwyy 10-18-2017 06:27 AM

Been busy at work, haven't had much down time to get at my headlights yet. Found a spare driver's side headlight for sale somewhat locally I'm trying to work out a deal on.

Brought the wheels I bought earlier this summer in to have the tires stripped for New Winter Tires.
Sprayed them with a few coats of wheel acid and hit them with the pressure washer and they cleaned right up!

I'm planning on ordering 4 225/45/18 Michelin X-Ice at the beginning of November for a Square Winter setup, easier to rotate etc..

I removed the centre caps, they are set aside

I didn't know or didn't remember that they had TPMS sensors. Hopefully they all work!

To Do List:
* Re-Seal Headlights
* TSB for Clicking Axles

Another update, not sure if anyone's reading these or not but :dunno:

My driver's headlight was leaking. The sealant had dried up and was allowing water into the headlight. This weekend I took it apart and re-sealed it with OEM Nissan sealant. Was a bit of a bi***, but glad it's done.

Now they just need a Polish!

Thanks to Mike ^ Carbuffguy, I was able to snag a decent deal on a set of Blizzaks with good tread life left. Hoping to get them mounted, and put on at some point today/tomorrow.

Also, found a puddle in my trunk while cleaning it out last week. I had someone spray the trunk while I looked from the inside and it appears the Trunk Air Vents are leaking at the seals. I'm going to try and take the bumper off this weekend and re-seal the vents. In the meantime I've been driving with my trunk stripped in order to keep an eye on the water :icon43:

How's the fit/traction?

Well, we had discussed them being 225's, but they were 255's :rofl2:
No issues though, they fit fine. They are a couple years old, so a little hard, but they are fine. We'll see how they do when we get some real snow!

chewwyy 11-16-2017 08:17 AM

Finally took my day off for the first time in a few weeks yesterday. Spent some quality time in the garage with the Z.

Did an Oil Change with Fresh Motul Sport Ester 5W-40. The Z-speed cover made it so much easier with the quick access panel. Two bolts and I could access the drain plug and oil filter. :bowrofl:

My other issue was a leak in the trunk. I had a friend spray the trunk and noticed the leak coming from the rear trunk air vents. So yesterday I pulled the bumper off, removed the trunk air vents and found the source of the leak. The gaskets on the air vents were completely destroyed. I used some of the leftover Nissan OEM sealant from my headlights to fill the spots missing in the gasket. Once installed I sealed them with some Clear Waterproof Marine sealant.

Woke up to a snow silhouette of my 350Z on Sunday morning was kinda cool.

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....e92cdf6f12.jpg

After I cleaned the snow off I met up with a friend at Sunset Grille for some breakfast before we opened up his dealership's shop to do some work on our cars.

He was doing some work on his dash/stereo before putting his Dynosty tuned G35TT away for the winter.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....d960adf90f.jpg

He had applied sound-deadening to his trunk over the winter and had some left-over, so I bought it off him and used the rest on my trunk before putting the interior plastics back in.

Seemed to make a bit of a difference, especially on the highway, and roads with alot of debris.
Until next time

chewwyy 12-03-2017 02:44 PM

Was able to use a shop today so I started off by putting it up on the hoist and swapping the headlight bulbs out for a set of 6000K's, the setup from the previous owner was 2 slightly different colours and was driving me nuts, my shop foreman had a set laying in his box and sold em to me cheap. Looks better.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....9211891609.jpg

I took advantage of the hoist and used the opportunity to do the Nissan TSB for the clicking axles.

Started off by removing cotter pin and outer 32mm nut. I made a mark with a sharpie on the axle spline and the hub for reference later. Then removed the 14mm bolts securing the inner cv.

**TIP** Most of the DIY's suggested removing the axle at this point suggesting it is a tight fit but with patience it can com out. I tried, but was concerned about tearing a cv boot or other damage.
On the driver's side I removed the upper bolt for the sway bar endlink, and on the passenger side I removed the lower bolt and rotated the swaybar & endlinks out of the way. This made a HUGE difference, and gave so much more clearance getting them in and out.

Be sure to thoroughly clean out the hub and surrounding area before re-assembling. (this is a before picture)
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....99fc456f96.jpg

I put the axles in the vice and used an air wheel to clean off the rust/debris and applied the Nissan recommended Molyslip grease. I also added a little Loctite blue to the the axle splines. This was a recommendation from a friend and VW technician not part of the Nissan TSB.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....4a2c9bfb5d.jpg

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....6e571e8e23.jpg

Re-installed the axles and rotated them 180 degrees as per the TSB directions, secured it with a New OEM Nissan 32mm nut and New OEM cotter pin to Nissan Torque Specs as per TSB. Finished by greasing up the hubs with more Molyslip and re-assembled.

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....db96221308.jpg

I finished it up this afternoon and drove around a little bit without hearing any axle clicking. Will keep updated

chewwyy 12-14-2017 11:23 AM

Well, my car has not made any clicking noises since the TSB, happy to say it worked perfectly!

It snowed here a bit recently, went out and did some snow drifts :bowrofl:

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....fb7c062ce8.jpg

Unfortunately, I started up my car at work the other day and found that the flex on the Y-pipe decided to give out, I was hoping it would last until the spring.

Trying to decide if I;
a) Patch it
b) Buy a Motordyne XYZ
c) Buy a cheap aftermarket/oem replacement
d) Replace whole damn exhaust lol...

Will keep you updated...

This is a solid thread. Nothing crazy, but a lot of the small improvements that really improve the car. I like it.

Thanks alot, appreciate it! Quality over quantity is how I look at it. No need to rush it, I have no plans to sell the car.

I went with the latter ha ha... Found a super low mileage Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 Catback for sale locally. I should get it on Monday. Pics to come! :fyeah:
