So you're looking for a body shop in the mid-A, huh?

Hey guys,
If you've ever tried to find a good body shop here in the mid-A to do aftermarket work like painting or installing anything from a lip or a wing to a hood or a full body kit, you know just how hard it can be.
So I wanted to let you know of a body shop I'm quite excited to have learned about here in the mid-A that works in both the normal collision repair arena and also does aftermarket work such as body kits made of fiberglass or urethane. The shop is co-owned by our very own Alain (S/N INDECIS), who is the owner of the Daytone Blue Jo-Tech Racing custom Z that has dynoed at over 450 RWHP. Alain is one of the genuinely nicest guys I've met around here, and I would implicitly trust him with my car any day because he shares our passion for our cars and for a job done right. Keep these guys in mind for your future paint/bodywork needs.

The contact info for the shop is:

PROFESSIONAL AUTO BODY
628 S. PICKETT ST.
ALEXANDRIA, VA 22304
(703) 751-4224

Or you can call Alain directly at (703)980-1668.

Thanks for the info K. I met Alain, seemed like a real nice guy. Maybe if someone talks to him, have him get to Evolution this weekend and hand out some cards. Maybe even throw in a prize!!! 50% off labor or something...

PumpedVA Mar 22, 2005 05:53 PM

very nice. BIG thanks

So question is when is the hood getting painted? I seem to be the one doing everything first  so its your turn.

mdracer76 Mar 23, 2005 05:37 AM

Ohh.. I need some body work done to remove my garage mis-hap.... I'd of got it done by now .. if I didn't feel like every quote ive seen so far is double the amount of $ than it should be..... Wonder if they also can repair CF?

Gmoney4 Mar 23, 2005 05:49 AM

Kcobean if you don't mind, I'd like to add some input on another bodyshop in the area.

If you are in the Centreville/Chantilly area I highly recommend D & V Autobody. They painted my entire kit and the guys over there are great to work with. They did everything they could to take care of my baby, and everything I asked was taken care of. Color matches perfectly, and I couldn't speak any higher of them. Very professional.

D & V Autobody

Thanks guys, I will be at the Evolution meeting. Hope to see you all there.

As fate would align things, I actually took my car in to a different shop for painting the day before I talked with Alain and discovered his shop. Had I known, I would have done differently. My car is in good hands though, as the shop I took it to has a couple of guys that have been doing fiberglass work for 25 years. The hood will be painted and beautiful for the meet on Saturday, along with some extra painted goodies! They are also doing some minor repair work to my body kit.

Hey Gmoney4,
I have seen the work that D & V does, and it is definitely some high quality work. My beef with them is that they are fantastically expensive. I believe there is similar work to be had at better prices, but they are definitely a viable option for the most discriminating Z or G owner.

eh, I guess to each their own. I actually got a quote from Wagon Works which was around $700 higher. And for me its all about how you treat your customers, and I tell ya they are some of the best in that department.

I look forward to seeing you guys Saturday, looks like the rain may hold off long enough :icon38:

I'd like to also chime in for people in the Maryland/Baltimore area. In Westminster there is a shop off 795 called Auto-Collision Experts (www.acs-md.com), I've had them do a few of our cars, and they do EXCELLENT work. Ask to speak to Dave Groth and tell him Dave from ActiveTuning with the orange Z sent you. Everytime I go to their shop there are a ton of Mercedes, Porsche's, Rollys Royce, Maybach, Ferrari, etc. They do quality work, in good time, lifetime warranty, and aren't RIDICULOUSLY expensive...although not super cheap either...but pay to have it done right the first time.

Someone was getting paintwork on their Maybach? :D

That would be expensive I bet!

D@ActiveTuning Mar 28, 2005 11:21 AM

Lol, actually somebody hit it in the rear end. Sucks for their insurance company.

BamBam Mar 28, 2005 11:35 AM

Can anyone give me an idea of how much it should cost to put on a body kit (Vizage front & sides)? Looking to find a place to paint it all and maybe repaint the entire car a snappier silver then the stock color. I am in the Dulles area in VA.

Kcobean, thanks for the suggestions. Can't seem to get the PM reply function to work. Will get back to you later.

Brent
