Show me your 20's!!!

Mid-A,
I am still debating on getting 20's for my Z since I don't want to lower my car and want to fill the wheel well as much as possible. People who have 20's can you please post your wheels and list what tire sizes you have on the front and the rears. Also, if you have, can you tell me if you have had any problems with bent rims or any other tire related problems with your 20's.

Thanks, much appreciated.

20" Wheel Thread

Hot Cu Jun 5, 2006 04:13 PM

Thanks for the thread.

I went on 1010tires.com and it seems:

Recommended Tire Sizes:
19" Tire Setup Sidewall Height:
245/35/19: 3.37 inches
275/35/19: 3.78 inches

20" Tire Setup Sidewall Height:
245/35/20: 3.37 inches
275/35/20: 3.78 inches

18" OEM Tire Setup Sidewall Height:
225/45/18: 3.98 inches
245/45/18: 4.34 inches

Difference between 18 and the 19/20's is:
Front: 0.61 inches
Rear: 0.56 inches

Will this really make a difference is protection for the rim? Seems like all of the 18,19 and 20's are all prone to wheel damage, 18 being the least, but is 1/2 an inch really going to matter on the road?

with 20" wheel, 80% of us here use this config:

255/35/20 Front
275/30/20 Rear

The other 10% use 285x30x20 or 305x25x20 in the rear.

You still have enough tire to protect the wheel. What is your budget?

Im part of the minority. :)

20's are awesome as long as your offset agrees with the style of wheel you have and you're not dropping your car more than an inch at most.

I ended up having my fenders rolled to accommodate my 20's, but I still think on stock ride height they look the best.

Just my $.02

Will this throw off the TCS/VDC?

Bubble,
What tire brand (Toyo, Nitto?) has this setup (255/35;275/30/20)? How much should I be looking at for the tires? What setup do you have?
Thanks

Front Tire Setup Sidewall height:
255/35/20: 3.51 inches

Difference in 245 and 255: 0.14 inches

Seems like this is a better choice of tire.
What about rubbing issues? I do not want to roll my fenders. Can I put this tire size (255) on without rolling the front fenders?
Thanks
