The official "Goodbye to Kelly's Car" thread.

It's official. She's gone. The transport came to get her this morning and take her to her new home in Louisiana. The new owner is a very nice guy who bought the car for his wife (can you believe it!). He's a true car guy, and I'm sure he'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Now, a few pictures....

Damn! Thats gotta feel like you just lost a child-so much time, effort, and money put into that car. It will be missed, but that 490ft/lbs in your new ride will help heal the pain:icon17: OT but Kelly if you get a minute can you PM me the transport company info?

mdracer76 Jun 29, 2006 07:29 AM

Ooooh, they're gonna have to raise it up. The last time I went home I ripped the front of my kit off the audi!!!!!

Yep, I hope they're careful with it. The transport driver's process for getting the car on the trailer was amazing. He actually backed the back tires of his pickup up onto ramps to lower the back of the 60 ft trailer. Then he put down a cinder block and 3 12"x12" squares of 2x12 under the jack stand of the trailer tongue and jacked the front of the trailer up even higher. With one set of wooden ramps, he was able to drive the car right up into the trailer with no problems. His last transport was a pair of Maybachs, and before that a Carerra GT, so my car was like a Yugo for him, but he treated like all the others.

Yep, it was hard to say good bye after all the work, money and frustration that went into building the car. The Viper certainly eases the pain, but it's not the same car by any stretch.

PM incoming shortly....

well you had to finally say fairwell to the beauty.but someone else is going to have fun with her now.after all your hard work.:icon17:

The car appears to be in good hands. I am sure this is not the last time that we will see it.

Possible, but I doubt we'll see it around the forum much from the new owner. He's a car guy through and through, but I don't think he's the forum type. I could be wrong though.

Damn man, sad to see her go. Hopefully she'll be well taken care of. I'm curious to see what you have in store for the Viper now.

Can you PM me the shipping info also? Thanks man.

Kelly, sorry to see the Z go. The pics that I've seen always made me drool over it.

Anyways, I have a quick question. When the transport guy drove the Z into the enclosure, how'd he get out? Cuz he looked pretty big and that wasn't a lot of space to get out... esp with the door length. Just curious.

ASTIG_Z Jun 29, 2006 09:54 AM

what was the price you let it go for?

He climbed out the window. I know it sounds horrid, but it's a standard operating procedure for these transports even for Lambos and Ferraris. He was a skinny dude and he was very careful climbing out. He took his shoes off, he was wearing gloves, and he was wearing "buttonless" shorts to prevent scratching.

The a-hole who dropped off my Viper was far less cautious.

Less than I should have, but more than book. :)

jamnew Jun 29, 2006 10:50 AM

I am glad the sale went well. I saw your car at the DC auto show and I still think it's the hottest Z I have ever seen. I look forward to seeing the Viper!
