Zamora's Auto Body & Paint?

So I'm getting ready to do paint job on my Z. I've been hearing good things about ZAMORA'S AUTO BODY & PAINT in Rockville, MD. I live like 15 mins drive from it, so I'm thinking about going there. Anyone has experience with this shop?

sounds like a magician's shop, maybe they can use their tricks to make it fit better!

never heard of the place, but it looks like the body kit turned out ok. I'll probably do a body kit eventually but first I am going for speed.

Are you painting the parts or the car?

farobaba Mar 11, 2007 05:41 PM

nice kit, i want to ket one too now

wckdclw Mar 11, 2007 05:44 PM

you can use a dremmel to trim the edges the way u want it, or just tel lthe bodyshop to make it fit....its not that bad to fix

Rickdogg Mar 11, 2007 10:01 PM

If installed correctly, the sideskirts will fit snug. Mine did the same thing when I tried to test fit it prior to fully installing them. Double sided tape does wonders

^ Good to hear that! Yea I figured the a good bodyshop would know what to do anyway. I was worrying too much. I'm painting only the parts; can't afford to paint the whole car. The car should be going to the shop tomorrow. I came to work with a 3 tone Z this morning... quite embarrassing...

PS: Going to the shop to get an estimate this afternoon! Just painting the parts for.. $1200 sounds fair?

Whoooa..... here's a FAIR price: $150 per piece, 2 side skirts, 1 rear lip = $450. Whole front bumper - $300 or $400 MAX. Total = $$750-850 MAX... and even then I don't think this is a good deal. Ideal price I'd probably pay would be $100 per piece and $200 for front bumper, that equates to $500 (for everything!) <-- asian deal

$1200 = all pieces painted, car washed, and they should offer to cook u dinner + movie of your choice.

You did install the side skirts over the OEM right? If so I had the same problem and used rivets (sp) in the door jam where that little top lip is and it pulled the sides in and closed the gap.

I can take pics of were I used them if you like?

I suppose it's all relative, to paint/prep 3 fiberglass pieces and 1 poly bumper sounds reasonable to me.

If they do a good job, I might have to visit them....I have a new hood and front bumper. ;)

OH please do! Thanks! Yes I did install the side skirts over the OEM. I don't think can do it the other way around.

polyurethane can be a real PITA to paint, and aftermaket fiberglass parts can be a PITA to prep and smooth for paint. depending on how familiar the shop is with aftermarket kits will determine the price. $1200 sounds a little high and I would get at least 2 other quotes just to make sure.

lol... last time I visited the shop, they had a bunch of Evo, S2000, STI there getting body work done. Looks pretty reliable to me.

Okay.. I'm an idiot... I was looking up the wrong shop. The shop that was recommended is actually right next to Zamora. This shop is called

AUTO BODY CRAFTSMEN
301-309-2277
801 E Gude Dr
Rockville, MD 20850
http://www.autobodycraftsmen.com/

I went to Samora and the guys told me they'd only work on my car if I have insurance paperwork. So as I was leaving, the people that actually work at the shop came out and offered to do it on the weekend for $650. But they're not going to fix the gaps and I will have to take out the parts and leave them only the parts. Oh forget that! The guys at AUTO BODY CRAFTSMEN sounded like they really know their stuff and said the gaps are really easy to fix. I'm going to drop the car tomorrow morning and picking it up in 4 days. Lets hope for the best!

do not go to the autobody craftsman on the guede drive!! I took my celica for a body kit painting and they messed up my whole car. They smoked in the car , the hand brake was loose after i got the car and they did not even try to fit the body kit. There were gaps all over the car and yes the kit was a brand new original KAMINARI. For celica kaminari has the best fitment but these guys never paid enough attention. But i hope your exprerience will be okay with them good luck
