DIY'ers in the D.M.V

What's up all,

I am HUGE DIY'er and I believe that all DIY'er should unite and help each other out if possible. I remember when I used to live in CA when i had a 300zx tt, a club i was with out there used to pool together to help each other out in the DIY world. This help out everyone in the 300zx community because no one had to bring their cars to the dealership to get work done becuase all the members were friends and knew something about cars. It also helped member like me at the time who knew very little about 300zx's and taught me more about my car. I remember weekends with some friends, some beer, pizza, and wrenchs mod each others cars up and race them later in the evenings or cruise the strip. Since i been here in VA I have not seen to many DIY'ers in the Z world, but what do I know. I just joined the forum recently. I believe that all DIY'ers and overall z lovers in the area should come togehter and be willing to help members out if time permits like over the weekend or something. I believe that it benefits this can benefit the whole forum when members come together and DIY. These are some of the endless benefits:

1.You learn about your car.
2.You save a ton of money for other projects.
3.You make lasting friendships and support each other in DIY project.
4.You have more pride in your car and its capabilites since YOU done the work.

I'll be that beacon and say for any members out there that have DIY projects espically over the weekend I'm willing to come over and help twist wrenches and help in your DIY project and would encourage other members here to want to do the same. The same way we post up threads in this forum could be the same way we post DIY projects and help each other out for very little or nothing at all. I know that there are members out there who are hot with car audio, engine work, or other knowlegeable skills where we can all help each other out. In the end we are all Z owners and part of a proud community where we should be able to help each other out, teach each other things about our cars, and learn more about our cars. Every week ,at the begining of the week, I'm going to post a thread call DIY weekend threat. If any members have any projects they are trying to accomplish you can post there and all members are encouraged to read it and see if they are willing to help the member out with the expertise that they have. I'm going to post a thread for this week since it is still pretty early.

DIY'ers whos with me?!?!

Jon

Yeah I use to love doing things like that when I was in school. Sadly my townhome doesnt have a garage so I dont have a place to do stuff like this anymore... hence me having Car Toyz 2 on speed dial! LOL Although I am buying a 240... possibly an engine swap coming up.

None the less I would be down for hangin out and helping on a few projects... I have watched CT2 do so many fiberglass boxes I have figured it out! Then again there is something to be said about professional work that has warranties.

I am a total DIY'er, and will never take my car to the dealership unless it is for some recall, or something I can't do on my own (intense motor work like timing belt, transmission stuff etc.). To illustrate my DIY independence, I got a letter from Brown's Nissan yesterday telling me to schedule my 7500 mile maintenance. It consists of a bunch of stuff, like "changing the oil, lubing the door and hood hinges, topping off fluids, rotating tires, checking stuff"... I laughed at the $150 price gouge because I can do that stuff my self and use the $150 elsewhere. Except maybe rotating the tires, because I don't have the machine to do it.

I like this idea. Also I just bought a house in Sterling, so we could use my garage to DIY on some weekends. I got a decient size garage.

I'm a big fan of the DIY my friend, once I'm back home, I'll be sure to help people work on their cars :)

add me to the list. I'm thinking about doing coilover but don't want to try to tackle it myself. I feel like beyond simple bolts on and av installs were pretty screwed trying to work on the z and g without a lift. but if anyone need a hand I'm down

Im glad we have so many members catching on right now. As i mentioned earlier I'm going to post a DIY section every week that falls on the weekends so everybody look for that. Right now I have something posted for this weekend. So if anyone had a project put it there and we'll tackle it. Its great to have a bunch of DIY'ers in the area.
