2009 AutoX season..any Mid-A's running this year?
Hello all...just wondering if anyone will be running this year. If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts on a couple of things:
- what class are you in - what tires are you running - best place for alignments (including toe) - where'd you buy your gear TIA - johnny |
I would like to get into this also. If there is someone that is autoxin and wouldnt mind me as a tag along then im our auto x buddy
|
Where is the closest Auto X place to us? I wont be getting back till halfway through the season I want to check out a couple of events though.

It all depends on the organization. WDCRSCCA holds them at FedEx field (along with a few other autox clubs). |

Unfortunately there is no Baltimore SCCA club.
I race with Capital Driving Club in Frederick, MD. This is not a SCCA club so classes are less stringent. Street tires. No fancy alignment. Gear? I bring a helmet, cigarettes and iced tea. |
I'm going out for the first time ever on sunday. Eeeek I'm scared. I'll be doing one here in VA at a place called Verona. I think I'm entering STU class. Again it is my first experience with auto x.

Today I'm installing my test pipes and exhaust so IIRC, this will bumped up to a different class. :( I'm still waiting for my helmet to come in as well. I ordered last week...$80 shipped! http://www.saferacer.com/auto-racing...ction=0&page=1 |
BS is your class only if you have minor modifications or the car is otherwise stock. Beyond that, it depends on your mods .. even down to your tire choice.
I believe test pips bumps you straight into SM :) Good luck with that ... lol |

I went to the WDC SCCA last year twice. Ran in SM2 which is a tough class around here. I likely could have gotten away with BSP (B street prepared). They are a friendly bunch but are serious about their autoX. Probably won't do it this year as it is too slow for my taste. Also, had trouble finding the course! What a pain in the a$$!. I can see how if you were into it, you could learn a lot that would help you go fast on a track though. I think it is a natural progression from autoX to PDX to club trials to club racing if you want to go that far. I just want to have some fun and not worry about the law getting involved. |
So far it's another Z and myself, 6 or 7 RX-8's and a 1989 911 for BS class. Is this person on here?
Helmet finally came in (w00t). I'm shopping for tires right now...I have a feeling that after Sunday I'll need new tires. :P My front tires are 2/32 right now. DOH! |
