Pulled over for doing 73mph?!
Just thought I'd share this ridiculous story with Mid-A. I was driving to work in my Scion xB this morning going I-95 North Bound. I was passing by an usual cop hide out spot and I spotted him from a mile away. Slowed down as usual and passed by him at a little over 70mph. The speed limit was 65mph btw. The cop pulled out and put on the 5-0 light and was right behind me. I thought he was pulling someone else over so I changed to another lane to let him passed by. Nope he got behind me again and I pulled over at the shoulder. The cop told me he clocked me at 73mph.... Are you serious?!?!?! 8:30am when everyone's flying down I95 and you're pulling me over for 8 mph over? He let me off with a warning. I'd love to actually get a ticket and go see the judge for an 8mph over speeding ticket. The part that pissed me off is that I was late to work due to that...
I think I do have the right to say this... Don't they have better things to do like catching the real criminals?

I got one on I68 in Garret County for 72 in a 65 back in 2003. Dumbass Cop was standing in the middle of the highway flagging people over. I was in the right lane behind an older couple in their buick (who also got pulled over). It was completely rediculous. Worst part of it was that the day of my court it snowed 20 something inches (remember it is in Oakland, MD) and I couldn't make it to the court.
A couple of weeks later a cop got hit somewhere else in MD doing the same thing and never saw a cop out there again.

That sucks. If Im doing 73 in a 65 (almost always) I just let off the gas a little bit and go down to 70 as well and never even get a 2nd look in VA (the infamous commowealth) usually. That is kinda shitty. He probably could've caught someone going 15 over on 95N 2 secs later if he waited.

Haha I bet thats what the cop initially said. The cop probably saw someone going 10mph over, but decided to let them go. Then he told himself, the next person over the limit would be my target.
Next think you know, Etan and his famous xB comes by haha.

8mph is kinda stupid.
Not to hijack, but this a cool documentary video on the Texas streets, but in the middle of the video, there is a highway seen, where there are a couple of cars and a bike speeding on a highway. Cop starts to pull behind them, and takes the next exit off. There's a little caption that says along the lines of, "Houston cops actually catch real criminals and not street racers."

Most police that are doing speed enforcement and not trying to be d1cks used to use the 80% rule. You clock traffic on a given road for a few minutes and find the average rate of travel, then figure out what speed 80% of the cars are traveling under. The top 20% are your prime offenders and it negates the "flow of traffic" arguement. Granted most police probably feel less inclined to put any effort into this anymore since speeding tickets are much less about public safety now and much more about revenue.
Considering you could probably get away with 2-3 mph as simple speedometer error, 8 mph seems a bit rediculous.
