Hi, I'm the new Shin.

Seems some don't get the humor or intent of this post and like to be all serious about it, so let me break it down.

1. "So I have spent my share of time at the various drag strips around the VA/MD area and yawn. Unless you have an 800HP Nissan I don't really see the point."

Is it OK that someone doesn't find drag racing all that exciting? Yes if I had an 800 HP Nissan drag racing would be more exciting and I would also need a new daily driver. Why 800 HP? I don't know I was just thinking that my little 250HP Nissan wouldn't be so fun to drag race with.

2. "Does the mid-A actually drive these cars at track days? I mean like on a course with turns and oh **** I came in too hot situation type track days?"

I have been seeing posts about track days at the drag strip and was seeing if anyone here participates in road course or autocross track days. I posted in what I consider to be a fun way, but apparently for some serious guys this is highly offensive "ricer" talk. Shame shame on the new guy.

3. "Not much these days gets my heart pumping...looking to step up the game. Does anyone else feel as bored sideways in these cars as I do? Don't get me wrong the crazy over-steer in the 350z still amazes me. I can turn this thing so sideways I can almost see my rear tire and recover like I meant to do it. I have never driven a car that can get so out of shape yet hold a line as these cars can."

The 350z is pretty slow in it's factory form which mine basically is. The few installs I have done have improved things over factory, but it is still a slower car. So drag racing isn't all that interesting (Heart pumping) to me in this car (See the first point). As for pseudo drifting this thing, It is a very predictable car IMHO. It is easy to set into a turn sideways and put it where you want it. The "I can almost see my rear tire" is of course an exaggeration, but man does this thing get way out there. Other cars I have owned would spin out WAY before this little car does much less recover.

4. "So if anyone is planing a track day count me in!"

Seems pretty self explanatory, but let me be more specific. If anyone who enjoys laughing, driving, doesn't take themselves too seriously, and likes to have a good time driving is planning a track day...Count me in!

I hope that clears it all up for those who like to pick and rant and post down to others on forums. I could have just posted "Does anyone go to track days at road courses? I would like to come out and learn." Where is the fun in that post...ha.

Wait for shin to come off his ban. Next year or two he should be in the 600-800whp range. Hopefully his transmission can hold it. It's a 5 sp

Most Z guys, and even more G guys would rather stand around staring at their rims.

LOL! This post is a joke right?

You either do not know crap about racing or you are just bull s*iting us. Ok, I will bite coz I think this is more bs than anything.

The 350z community likes drag strips. Only a few of us do other events.

You try to talk like you have done a lot of track days and still you say that the 350z has crazy over-steering when in fact is one of the biggest under-steering pig out there.

Also, I do not know what track have you gone that allows you to "get so sideways that you see the rear tires" without a safety stewart giving you a flag.

Of course, you know that to drive on a track (and not autocross) without an instructor you need a license right?

If you want to go out and drive with us, just keep up with the topic that mikes has about autocrossing. He always updates the new dates for the new autocross events and even track days.

See you at the next autocross DK!

You should read before you type...really read. Firstly...My track days were at various drag strips (Thus the humorous 1/4 mile at a time subject) and that was in a different car. I don't know crap about racing actual road courses, thus the step up the game comment. I think it would be fun as hell to learn. As for under vs over steer...I find my car has a crap load of over steer. At no point did I state I was experienced driving road courses or that I was sideways at a road course or that I am some big **** driver. I like to drive aggressively and have been known to get her sideways on occasion around corners. No I was not aware that you have to earn a lic, to drive without an instructor...Good to know. As for spending anytime around someone who would venomously respond to a post that was clearly intended to be fun...nah I will pass, but thanks.

Not to worry the DK title is still up for grabs!

That looks like fun! I have never done an autocross event and would be interested in checking it out if you go.

I have read a bunch of posts talking about this Shin. Sounds like too much drama for me man. 600-800HP in our cars sounds scary! Would that even be street-able?

03threefiftyz Feb 11, 2012 05:31 AM

Autocross, huh. Sounds like you are primed to beat me the first time out!

Alberto Feb 11, 2012 05:47 AM

What did you run at all these drag strips you spent time at?

Why would 600hp in a Z be scary?

Nothing special...Just a bolt on and cammed 4th gen camaro. I was looking to install an NX wet kit when I had to sell the car. It was a good time, but racing then drive around and get in line...Rinse repeat. I didn't do any bracket racing or anything...Just test and tune days.

600 HP in these little machines? It would at the very least take some time to get used to.

C5_vette Feb 11, 2012 07:03 AM

Wow there is a lot of fail in your post, don't even know where to start, if you want to road course your car, then head out to an HPDE session and learn, also oversteer on the z? Most cars including the z understeer from the factory, that has been my experience when driving a z anyway...

I also love how you arbitrarily chose 800 whp lol..... Also do yourself a favour and stop "aggressively driving and getting your car sideways around corners" You are going to hurt someone... You sound like a typical ricer...

Venomous? Me? Awesome

But tell me, what answers do you expect when you present yourself like this?

I have spent my share of time at the various drag strips around the VA/MD area and yawn.

I have been known to get her sideways on occasion around corners.

You are clearly the new DK and do not want to tell us that you just beat Toreto!

Now, seriously. I never told you to "spend time with me". I actually do not talk with almost anybody at autocrosses. I usually just go and do my business. Mike is the one that would maybe spend time helping you learn how to actually drive seeing the way you act.

I said come with us (Mike and I) to the next autocross if you want to race, since its the only thing you will be able to do at this point unless you do something like FATT.

But feel free to do as you please big shot.

I love when people think they are a big deal. Lighten up...it's all in good fun!

I made the mistake of feeding one troll today. To quote Bush: Fool me once and shame on you...fool me twice..and...and...you can't fool me again.
