So what does everybody think of these big changes?

I don't really see a problem with the changes unless I am missing something. Do you have any idea if the Z will be elidgable for any of the ST classes? STX?

It's not eligible for any of the ST classes because it only has 2 seats.

We had an AutoX in OKC on 12-1-02 and there was a S2000, Which dominated BS last year, That came down from KS and he was a regional champ last year. Well he was full race prepped in BS w/ Giant Hoosiers on and I was on street tires. His best time was 32.001 and mine was 32.002 so I think with some sticky tires for next season the Z will dominate BS.:D

Ditto on what OKC-Silverstone-Trac said. Because the car wasn't classed when I got mine I ended up running in A stock. I ran a 43.099 and the S2000 in B stock ran 43.075. Turn the VDC off and new tires then it will come down to the driver.

Well, Jean Kinser of the Evolution school had this to say about the 350Z (BTW, if true about being .3 off Z06 time, then the 350Z may be destined for AS next year)

I find it odd how the RX7 is still in SS... it's completely outclassed...

Yeah, but before the Z06 came out they dominated everything but the best driven C5.

I agree, it probably should have moved down to AS, but I think the reason for keeping it in SS was somewhat cost-related. While the car itself isn't particularly expensive, it isn't readily available. Sure there are a few out there, but many have been heavily modded and/or seriously beaten on. Factor in the reliability issues of the turbo'd rotary (from what I've read, the motors usually need a rebuild after 60-100K miles). On top of that, the model to have would be the R1, which was only made in 1993.

What was the drivers name in the S2000?

A good judge to your performance would be on how that person placed at nationals? If he went?

Yes, I was very fortunate to have in the school a Z06, a nonZ06C-5,Non SBoxster, and the 350Z. I was able to have a fairly equal time in each car. 3 runs in all of them except the nonZ06 vette. I had 6 runs in it because there were father daughter students. The cars all had competition tires. The 350 came in 2nd against and the other 2 cars were within a tenth or 2 of the 350Z. It is extreamly neutral handling. Again, this was only one course and naturally the course surface wise would not have been identical throughout the day. HOWEVER, I believe the S 2000 will now have a challenger for 2003!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
