Wow! Pretty damn good with just weight reduction/race prepped car. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they haven't cracked the engine or done any performance upgrades yet. What are the rules for performance of GT 2 in grand am racing? How modified can the engine be? Will he race in any IMSA events here in the states?

Here are the rules:
http://www.grandamerican.com/grandamcup/Rules_2003.html

Section 7-8 is the part about engine mods. Suspension, parts removal and the like are covered in nearby sections.

Compared to some other series out there, the cars are quite close to stock.

For comparison purposes, the GSII qualifying times for the two Daytona races last year were 02:09.691 and 02:08.071.

That is some heavy competition: NSX, M3(E36), 993, Supra T. I also noticed they are racing the 245 front/275 rear tire set up.

Don't forget Porsche 911 and E46 M3.....

The engine is still stock. we have not done any ECU modification as of yet. We are running a INJEN CAI.
Grand Am has now given us headers and a flywheel.
On Sunday we we able to get to the 2:10's

great news, I would love to hear more.

I hope that you get the times down, it just so happens that you are going up against, perhaps the most enginered car in history (the 911, when you take into account the hrs Porsche puts into it, along with the history of many many teams). It would be great if you could get down to that time.

What does the stock flywheel weigh?
