Uh....I don't think I ever claimed to know anything about the LS1..all I saw was the Z28.....no SS. Oh and as far as your pee pee goes............"Things in mirror, appear bigger then what they really are..."

By the way.....so educate me.......... how come the WS6 is so bad *** compared to the regular Firebird V8 and yet the SS is not anybetter then the regular Z28??????

I always thought the saying went "the camera adds 10 inches"

Z28/SS/Formula/TA/WS6 are all in the same ballpark performance-wise. There are is some optional content availible for the SS that can nudge it ahead, but the same parts can be bought aftermarket for a fraction of the cost. Same goes for the Firehawks. People that paid for the higher-end f-cars either want to have the cool hoods and rims or they want the highest possible performance from a bone stock car (345hp optioned SS's and Firehawks).

Thats just it, the WS6 is not, nothing more than maybe every now and than 5 rwhp more than the regular Trans Am...Same thing as the SS vs Z28...

Exactly

The thing I find amusing is when Car and Driver runs a 13.5 @ 107mph (Which is still shitty) in a WS6 and then a 13.8@ 102mph in the SS and claims the WS6 Launches easier Some cars are faster than others.. it just happens. Throw a Z into the mix and it could go either way. I say let Evan Smith drive them all and prove it to you He ran high 12s in a bone stock 99 Z28. Back to Back passes. That must mean the WS6 and SS can run low 12s right?

Hell I know a few firehawk owners that think they can run circles around the rest cuz they are rated higher.

Heres the deal. If you saw this list of choices...
Corvette - 310~320 rwhp - 40K
Z28 - 310~320rwhp - 25K
SS - 310~320 rwhp - 32K
WS6 - 310~320 rwhp - 32K

Realistically what would you choose? Obviously the Vette is a great car..but worth the extra amount? These are still slight skewed.. the ranges are generally a little wider...since 02 Fbodys dyno higher. However think about this for a second...

Corvette - 350 Advertised
Z28 - 310 Advertised
SS - 325 Advertised
WS6 - 325 Advertised
Firehawk - 345 Advertised

When you look at the real numbers comming out you can see whats really going on.

If someone has any corrections or thinks im completely off base let me know... however I know the LS1 guys know what the real deal is already.

95z-
i pretty much agree. i love all f-bods, and as an ex 98 cobra owner, i have aspecial place for cobra's too. i crossed over to the ws6, mostly for the looks. i love my car, and the beauty of the ws6, is that all u have to do is drop it. it's almost like it has a body kit. this is just my opinion.
i did not buy it because it is supposed to be faster than a z28, etc. i agree with you that a true f body ls1 owner will recognize that (even with the corvette), it's a drivers race, as all cars are in the same ballpark in real power

as for this post, anything can happen. it's a hard fact to fight...i mean, i can beat a viper to 75 if i got a good launch, and the viper spun all three gears. lord knows, i cannot remotely beat a viper on paper. the same goes for the 350z and an ls1, although i am not saying that the power difference between the two is as great as a viper to ls1).

I had this same argument with one of your fellow Z owners on this site. His argument was that the 350 had a better power to weight ratio than a A4 LS1. Well he never did the math, had he done that he would have seen that even a stock A4 LS1 has a better power to weight ratio than a modded 350Z (RWHP). Remember, the LS1 is seriously under rated by GM so going by the advertised HP's isn't a fair comparison.

I'd love to do the numbers for you all again if you'd like?

you know, why dont you guys just go out, find a guy in an LS1 that CAN DRIVE and race him or her, and get it on video. People are always arguing, but thats not gonna get us anything on the internet. Thats exactly what i did when the 03 Cobra owners thought they can take a Z06. I took out my 01 Z06, grabbed a camera, raced an 03, got it on tape, showed everybody that the Z06 is FASTER when driver are EQUAL , and that was it. See how easy that is? Why dont you guys do the same thing with the 350Z and the LS1 and get it over with!!

I think the 350Zs have a hard time beating the LS1s. Equal drivers the LS1 will win!

Because this didn't start out as a pissing contest?

(and I don't even know if this is directed at me, but bare with me )

I was sharing my first semi-race, and wanted to post about it. Frankly, I don't care if the Camaro crowd believes it or not, though I THINK we're past that now...I'm not concerned with impressing anyone. If I were, I wouldn't have said I LOST and missed 2nd, eh?

I think it would have been close if it hadn't gotten ****ed up from the start. If it hadn't? Oh well - I finally got to race someone

It was never about "oooh - Camaros suck" or other ********. No one said anything to that regard. But, like in ANY car forum, people feel the need to start **** or misinterpret. And then it all gets blown out of proportion. And it's stupid. I never should have even replied when it turned, because that was stupid too.

Some people confuse their cars for their egos and get offended at the slightest hint that their car - ANY car - is not perfect, even in cases like this where NO ONE WAS SLAMMING FBodies. That's why the Honda crowd got so ****ing annoying after F&F, and why it didn't hurt as bad to get rid of the Accord when it came time to get a Z. I loved the car and had a lot invested in it, but it was getting frustrating being associated with that crowd.
Jeez.

*sigh*

PS - And AGAIN...I don't hate FBodies! We almost bought one, for crying out loud. But c'mon - admit that they're not infallible, guys That's all I wanna hear

Anybody around here from Waco, TX or close by? I'd love to get this on video.

My car isn't bone stock but all it has are intake mods. (Lid, filter, ported MAF)...still running stock exhaust and tires.
anyone
