Launching the Z at the dragstip...

~3000RPM was my method(new tires, higher launch, not surewhat itll take yet)
rev the engine to a rpm, let the clutch out fast and smooth, if you lose traction drop that starting RPM. find the highest RPM you can without losing traction.
in your car, its how much power it takes for one of the tires to slip, in LSD you have to break them both.

okay I'll try that today and let you know
Road and track said to rev to 2,000 rpm and just drop the clutch but that doesnt seem to be working
also does it help to let out some air in your back tires, if so how much?

yes, letting air out of the tires helps, it gives you more of a contact patch on the pavemenet, if youre going to the drag strip you can go down to 22-25psi just be sure to fill them back up befofe you drive home for the street, well normal driving i wouldnt go any lower than 28psi

This technique works great for me.
- Get the RPMs up to 3 grand
- Let the clutch out and apply the gas enough to keep the RPMs right at about 3 grand then floor it.
- Lowering the tire pressure and LSD definitely helps!
It is difficult to explain the timing of this -- it just takes practice to get the feel of it, but once you get the feel of it, you'll definitely know it and feel it!!!
I would say that keeping the RPMs right at 3K is the key element of getting a really good launch. It is a matter of feathering the clutch and applying enough gas, but not too much. A little bit of tire spin is good but you don't want too much spin or wheel hop.
It took me a while to get this technique down, but I have so much more confidence in my launches now than when I first got my car. I can hang with AWD cars (if not beat them) off the line with this technique. Don't believe me? Check the vids I posted of me beating a WRX off the line in the Street Racing forum.
Good luck with your launches!

i slip the clutch at 3800 rpms and i manage 2.1x 60fts. if thats good enough for you, try it. otherwise i suggest slipping it even higher if you are more skilled than i am (i'm not that great on the launch yet)

when i drop the clutch at 2k i just let it out as fast as my foot will let me and hit the gas at the same time. if you have vcd then you must have at least a touring and the 18s may have a different effect at that launch. is that on street or drag strip. the different surfaces have a different effect also.
