Any decent NA VQ35DE builds around?
as the title suggest, I'm looking for some NA builds for the DE engine.
|
have you bothered looking at any of the posts below yours? there are like 4-5 good ones that I check on every week
|
Adam at Z1auto has a great build thread on this forum. 1cockyZ has one. OCG35 (I think that's the right spelling) has one. I have one but it isn't as exciting as those I just named (mine was for reliability over power... b-o-r-i-n-g :) )

could not have tried to search...

you are right, with there only being 3 pages of NA, I decided to browse only them, so that way search wouldnt give me links to anything not in the NA section. and since I still did not find the information I was looking for I decided to ask if anyone has a NA build for the DE that has worked out really well and would like to share.

I'm talking full engine build, buying a seperate VQ engine, maybe just make it an HR.... some of the other builds seem to be missing somethings

Guess my build isn't "decent"
|
I dunno, I guess I was hoping for a full parts list, everything.
I'm looking to go Full NA, either with the DE or if possible swap in an HR. and seeing as I don't get around this stuff that often and what not, I was really hoping that maybe a sponsor could tell me what all I gotta get to have a powerfull NA 350z. then once I get all the parts, have a performance shop help me install/tune. I have a 2004 350z Roadster, it's AT. has the DE engine. what can I do, suggestions and parts needed. I don't mind building an entire engine, in fact that is my plan, since I will have the stock stuff still and can revert to that should something break. |

Cliff Notes: This subsection is not that big and I know I for one have answered this very question on more than one occasion. |
ok then: if I do not get a rev-up engine, would there be harm in installing rev-up Camshafts? if the answer is yes, what would i need to completer the transformation of non-rev-up to rev-up engine?
|
Depends on your definition of good, search around.
|
btw, thanks all for kickin my butt and getting me to search my own, I know it will pay off in the long run.
now about those cam shafts.... :p |
Call Cosworth and buy one of their na de setup. All the work is already done for a 450bhp na setup. Bring about $20,000+ though.
|
what? lol

It depends what you want. I personally think the DE is a better engine with a better possibility of pushing power out of it than the HR. And i like more torque.
I would start with some more simple things like plenum, exhaust, HFC/tests, intake then clutch, flywheel, then move to pulleys, cams, and then on deeper into the block such as port polish, valves, pistons, etc then fuel system if needed (rails, injectors), blah blah. I like to start with simple bolt-ons first, then into the head, then into the block. But thats just me, and doing any engine work is a CONSTANT balancing act. Do your research and realize before you do this that the FI f**kers are right...your gonna dump a ton of money to gain minimal horsepower, but its much more fun and a better learning experience about the overall engine this way...and its not instant power like a turbo setup with just one really expensive mod. BTW, if you search WITHIN THE N/A thread you will pull up only N/A threads. Go figure. GL |
