Default New Z in the garage

Hi;

We just took delivery of a new 6 speed Z Roadster a week ago. Wow, very impressive car to say the least. We're not strangers to high performance sports cars having owned two Corvettes recently. But this isn't a Corvette. And I am very happy about that. There is no comparsion, it's apples and oranges. After one week, I would have to say this is the better car. Maybe not in raw power, but overall. At less money to boot. It has that feeling (that I have seen applied to various Benz products) of being carved out of one chunk of steel. And it seems to be directly connected to my feet and hands. I can't wait to get some more time in car.

I should note that we had a very good purchasing experience as well. A first class operation. I'd recommend this dealership to anyone in the western Wis, Minnesota, Iowa, Dakota etc area. I'll give details privately if anyone is interested.

I'll look for answers to this question around the site, but never the less: I'm going to drive this car through part of the winter and likely store it December and January most likely. Not when there is signifiacnt snow or ice on the roads, but you never know. I have already decieded I'll need winter tires and different wheels, so that's a given. Does anyone have any experience with this car in the snowbelt? What should I expect?

Thanks

Having come from similar vehicle experiences, I can appreciate your feelings. Raw power isn't always the most important factor in ones buying descision.
I've had the gamit from Benz to Jaq to Porshe to vette and I'm extremely pleased with this vehicle. Its a pleasure to drive and I look foreward to modding it and yes( also just got a G35) with my sons.

As far as tires, I'll be putting on Goodyear Eagle F1 supercars. You might have some experience with them already from your vettes.
Anywho, enjoy you car!

Welcome, there are some members here that drive their Z's in the snow, sorry not sure exactly who but, some Blizzak tires and added weight in the trunk should help. Hope they don't salt the roads in your region, I used to live in NY, would have driven the Z in the snow there if they didn't salt, so corrosive, hate to see a beautiful car get rusty.

Minnesota uses more salt in the winter than you can imagine. I buy a unlimited car wash card for the winter months for my daily driver. I wouldn't wash this car there, but we have a indoor hand wash so it's not a big issue. We decieded to park it Dec through Feb anyway. I am going to get a set of winter tires and wheels just in case we do decied to take it out on a sunny day.

Lets put it this way. Half of us are. We both post etc, so we figured it would be easiest to just use one screen name. My lovely wife is from New Zealand. And she is very proud of it. hence the screen name.
