Talking New Z Owner In Houston

Hey guys & gals, my name is Jeff and I'm coming over from the mustang side. I'm 31, married, and working for the Coast Guard for the past ten years as a machinery tech. (E-6/MK1 for you military folks) blah, blah, blah.....
Anyways, I picked up a stock red 05 auto with 41,000 miles. I'm very pleased with the looks and toughness of these cars. I'm really looking at doing minor mods this year and I'm going over seas next year for a deployment where I plan on paying off the car with the extra funds. After this I'd like to maybe do a stroker with twins or a single custom thumper you know. I'd be happy with 6-800 horses so we will see. I've put together quite a few stout mustangs but I really want to do something else. The Z really hits the mark perfectly.
I'm looking forward to checking out the site and planning the mods out, great info here! Thanks a bunch for having me on board...

Here's a quick pic of me & the wife on my last boat. I miss turning the wrenches! Thats why I can't wait to go overseas next year to support our guys and boats.

Welcome. You will enjoy driving the car and not just from point A in a straight line to point B.

These cars handle like something else. Shame theres nothing much for curves here in Houston. I'm ready to get back up to my hometown and see the parents and hit the dragon on the NC/TN border (I do the speed limit for the most part ). I grew up about 15 minutes from there. FUN stuff......

Hey, thanks for having me on rgeist554.

600 -800 horse
Yea I like to aim high you know. I figure when I get back from Bahrain next year I'll have her paid off, so I may have Forged Performance make me up a short block. I may run a used blower or nitrous until I get the funds up for twins. Oh...& thanks a bunch for hooking me up with the exhaust Jason, that should keep me plenty happy until I change things up on down the road.

Welcome!!!

Sounds like you have some big plans. Well there's plenty of reading to do. Just some tips:

1. The search button is your friend, it's a bit tedious but it'll save you from being flamed on.
2. With a 600-800hp goal, you're probably looking at twin turbo. I don't know if there is a single snail VQ putting down that much power.
3. Nothing against Sharif and the lady and gents over at Forged cause they're great, but why not check out SGP. They are local so if you have any problems they're right here for you. My boy Johnny is a mastermind mechanic and Mark is genious at tuning, then there's Eddie in sales who'll take care of your shopping list. Go up there and have them show you around and chit chat with them. Tell them Junior sent you.
4. This is the most important thing......................

Watch out for ***** IN YO MOUTH from Team DNF.... you'll eventually find out what I mean.

Thanks again for having me on guys.

1. The search button is your friend, it's a bit tedious but it'll save you from being flamed on.
Trust me, I know how the boards work. I don't ask stupid questions. There's just stupid people that ask questions, right?

2. With a 600-800hp goal, you're probably looking at twin turbo. I don't know if there is a single snail VQ putting down that much power.
I'm sure I could do a custom single that could put me at that mark or beyond. It wouldn't be one of those off the shelf kits for sure though. I'm sure with time there will be some companies making big numbers with singles though. Right now your right, it would probably be tough to get those numbers with a small single.

3. Nothing against Sharif and the lady and gents over at Forged cause they're great, but why not check out SGP. They are local so if you have any problems they're right here for you. I'm not gonna be doing anything this year cause I'm transferring outta here in November. I'll be closer to Forged so I figure they will be a sure bet when I start tweaking on the car.

4. This is the most important thing......................

I think I'll stay way the hell away from Team DNF then....
