Afterfire mods?
I own a 2003 350z with a cd009 2006 transmission and i heard that you can create afterfire, commonly mistaken for backfires, in a 350z as long as you have test pipes and are straight piped all the way back. Is this true? and if so, how can I do this to my car?

When you're car is running too rich, the fuel (ignited in the combustion chamber) isn't finished burning and the explosion continues into the exhaust. Aka, it backfires.
It's more common for boosted cars to shoot flames, but no impossible for N/A ones to do it.
How you do it:
Step 1: Straight pipe out of your headers
Step 2: Lightened flywheel (because our cars don't have a IAC valve)
Step 3: Tell your tuner to make your car run a little too rich because you want to shoot flames bro
Why it works:
Adding a lightened flywheel will allow your rpms to increase faster, as well as decrease faster. So if you're doing a 2nd gear pull to 6k rpms, the car will be requiring quite a lot of air & fuel to make the car run well. When you let off the throttle abruptly, the rpms will want to drop more quickly, causing your timing to be a bit retarded (it's PC i swear). You'll have a bit too much fuel still burning for what's needed at said lower RPMs, thus causing your car to backfire. To supplement this process, having your tuner make your car run a little rich won't have any negative consequences, other than potentially fouling plugs every now and again, lower mpgs, and less power.
Does it work?
At the end of the day, I'd love for you to find out. Frankly, I have no idea. I haven't even heard of anyone doing the above methods to shoot flames, so who knows? (It probably doesn't work) Either way. I really like the LED idea posted above. Finally get some of those Suki pink flames.

Or maybe you're looking for the *HISSSSS* noise that emanates from the BOV on a "for real turbocharged" car, not a NA fake, er, simulated boost release.
Whatever you're after, it can be done.

Alrighty, ive figured out how to shoot flames on any car as long as it is straight piped with test pipes, if you blip your throttle to between 2500-3000 rpms and quickly turn the key from off to back on. This causes the car to spark a huge flame if done correctly. Also it works in the higher rpms and get even bigger flames with there being more fuel in the exhaust, don"t know of any side effects however.

Side effects? Oh not much at all when you get up the revs, hit the ignition switch to off causing oil pressure to drop.
