My Version Nismo with no number plaque
 

This is my first post though I have been reading the Version Nismo forum for a long time. I ordered my Version Nismo in June of last year! It arrived in the UK in September and was only registered in January and I have now done just over 1,000 miles. The car took so long due to the restrictions put in place by the UK government departments that control what should and should not be registered, I ended up having to have letters from Nissan UK and Japan as well as a number of engineers over here all due to the fact the car was finished being built at the Autech factory so it did not have what are called TDN numbers.

The first 1,000 miles have been great, the ride is a lot harder but it handles way better than the previous two Z’s that I have owned, one thing I am happy about is that my car has the JDM interior rather than the red version you guys get. The bad thing is I do not get heated seats though! The only “majorish” change has been a set of Berk cats which have really opened up the exhaust, I also speced the car without a stereo so I have put my own alpine head unit in it.

The downsides are Z drivers in the UK that have not actually seen it think it looks weird – until they see it, the other down side is the cost, we already pay way more than you guys do for a Z, a standard Z over here is about $48,000 and my Version Nismo cost more than that after all its test etc and I have had to get my own warranty! I also do not get a number plaque like you guys.

I have a number of questions which I will field over time including items I have with the car that I do not know what they do, I am imagine they are to do with the suspension? As you imagine I can not read the manual.

just a stupid question.. which engine did you got under the bonnet?
the 3.5 liter or you got the real deal with the 3.8 nismo RS?
because.. you got the JDM bodykit, the JDM seats, the JDM rims... and they swapped the engine????

Ooh, you got the japanese spec seats....I'm a little envious. I have a feeling he has the 3.8liter engine too.

As far as the plaque, there is supposed to be 1500 NISMOs in the U.S. and another 1500 in Japan. I doubt they took away from the japanese allocation so this is an additional Nismo Z, hence no plaque.

I have the 3.5 engine, they sell both the 3.5 and 3.8 (very limited and expensive) in Japan but at the time I would have not got the 3.8 registered over here but what I now know means I could get one over here for only slightly more money, as you can see though a Version Nismo in this form is close to the cost of getting a GTR your side of the pond.

I will post some pics up soon, the 350oc here in the UK still do not have any pics of my car clean yet as the weather is terrible.

As you can see I do not get the reflectors on the front bumper and I have the wheel arch trims also and my wheels are in a titanium finish with different rubber to the US cars.

That's a sharp looking ride, Paul! Glad to see that we have somebody to represent in the UK.

The 380RS was Nismo's complete car for 2007. I think they only made something like 600 of them (not positive though) and I think they were only available in white (again, could be mistaken). The Factory Version Nismo in Japan is pretty much exactly what we get with the exception of the things you mentioned and the small fender flares.

My understanding is that the Factory Version Nismo is sold by Nissan both in the U.S. and Japan. The 380 RS is sold by Nismo and is considered a seperate car company.

It's kindof along the lines of buying a Ford Mustang GT and complaining that it doesn't come with Saleen parts.

I'm sure MC will chime in and say if I'm right or wrong. He knows this stuff cold.

tires.. you should have the bridgestone RE01-R right? in which sizes?
I hope they will start shipping the new RE11 in the US... they should be perfect on those cars :-)
and they are available in 245/40R18 for the front and 275/35R19 for rear..

the whole limited plaque thing was just for the US. the japanese versions never had the plaques.....although they have the indention for the plaque. yeah roughly 1500 for the US and 1500 for japan with 300 380RS cars for japan

The numbered plaque must have been their way of making up for our less-cool seats.

Designer #1: Why are we making a different interior for the Americans seats with red inserts when we already have these nicer ones over here ready to go?

Designer #2: We're giving them a numbered plaque. It's cool.

Designer #1: But won't they already be bummed about how we have to accomodate that stupid reflector in the bumper law and thereby screw up the looks?

Designer #2: That's why we painted their wheels gunmetal and put stickers on them. Duh.
