Finished the Nitrous install....and yes problems, i'm soo Pissed off!!!

so i just had my nitrous professionaly installed at a local shop. this is my current setup.

1. zex wet kit
2. 75 shot
3. electric pressure gauge
4. works on WOT

so i got my 10lb bottle filled up today for about $37 (kinda expensive for me). i loosened the bottle and off to thie highway i went. i was dong about 50mph and was around 4k rpm. i armed the nitrous and went on WOT and i was expecting something. I felt a little kick but nothing on what i read on the forums with people doing 75hp jets w/ zex kits and doing 320whp with lots of torque. it didn't even feel like 300 whp. i was so pisssssed off!!! Nevertheless, i look at my electric nexus gauge and it says that my psi is around 760 maybe so i came and searched and it should be around 900-1150 psi. I have to definetly invest in a bottle warmer, otherwise its never going to be at the right psi. my question is, will this make a big difference zex kit owners? currently i feel like i just wasted $937 :( :( :( plz nitrous people, give me some motivation again, i know that once i get the psi it will work properly, but i need to hear it from all you guys on gains and all that with 75 shot on zex.

Thanks

if you get the bottle heater it will be like Fast n the Furious with all the lights outside the car all wavey and stuff.

and it's "NAWS" not Nitrous.

haha..thats a god one but i made a simple mistake!!

you'll be fine kazim...it takes some time but run against some cars (like i said, i beat joe's MR2 without a problem with the 75 shot) and you'll love it. Its an adjustment at first, however with time you'll get used the added power and be able to shift right at redline (without hitting fuel cut). I'd say practice shifting hard without running the N20 (for safety) and then try ur luck at shifting while spraying. While it is dangerous (especially with the N20 if u hit fuel cut), its much better and efficent than shifting way before redline (it can really make the difference in a race). Make sure the 1-step colder plugs are in before such...and a bottle heater always helps. Any more questions drop me a line...good luck!

Don't be pissed dude. 75 Won't throw you back like you expect but it's there and it's doing something. You'll see it in the on the track. Like Vip350z said... Drop in 1 step colder plugs (For Safety) and put you a window switch in it (For Safety) You DEFINALTY need a bottle heater if your pressure was only 760. I keep my bottle at 950 and you can feel it at 75.

Pull a degree of timing and shoot 100 and you'll start to feel it alot more.

I have seen with my own eyes a 150 shot in a BONE stock Z and it hold up just fine. Of course you must pull timing and tune it correctly but it can hold it.
Of course the stock clutch will only hold for so long :)

thanks guys, i forgot to mention that i already bought the ngk colder plugs, but i definetly have to invest in a bottle heater. hopefully i'll get lucky in the marketplace.

The more u spray the colder the bottle gets, the colder the bottle gets the less u feel the hit. Invest in a bottle warmer or else the kit is useless IMO.

You should defiantly feel a 75 shot. Depending on what other mods you have that should get you to 300rwhp give or take. When I had my nitrous setup I never used a bottle warmer since I usually only took the car out on nice days. But having a bottle warmer may not be a bad idea. Have you dyno'd the car to check your a/f ratio?

VicPham Mar 24, 2007 01:01 AM

Just out of curiousity.... what are the quarter mile times for people that run the 75 shot. So far I only seen people post times with 100 shot and more. I have a ZEX kit sitting around for more than a year and I still havent installed it yet.

i live in chicago and only during the day it gets around 80 degrees in like july. at night around here its usually like 65 to 75 degrees. i am definetly going to get a heater.....i didn't spend $900 for nothing. i'm aiming to get the pressure around 900-1150, is it true that a bottle can actually blow up if it gets too high or does it just vent by releasing n20 from a safety vent. i read some of this stuff by searching and it seemed most people were unsure.

i have not dyno'd the car yet only because i need to get the pressure up first. then i will dyno it for sure

Audible Mayhem Mar 24, 2007 04:03 AM

i answered your pm cipher,

get a bottle warmer.

quarter mile times would be low 13s at about 108 on a stock car, i have 100 shots running around that trap 111 and 125 shots that are trapping 113 plus set up safely.

i trapped 115.5 on 150 shot on stock motor, would have been a lot higher with the right size slicks so i didnt have to shift into 5th..

VicPham Mar 24, 2007 11:34 AM

Hope fully with the mods I already have I can get into the high or mid 12's with the 75 shot.

cipher Mar 24, 2007 12:16 PM

yeah my mods include helix exhaust, aps test pipes, CAI, plenum.

skwid Mar 24, 2007 03:25 PM

Sounds like you got a good setup, but you should get a Wideband A/F Gauge. It's going to cost you but it's a great piece to have.

cipher Mar 24, 2007 04:06 PM

forgot to mention, but have he SAFC 2 tomonitor the air fuel ratio

cipher Mar 24, 2007 04:18 PM

here's a question that i havent found an answer in the search. my question is, do you first warm the bottle up and then open it or do you open the bottle up and let the nitrous run thru thlines and then warm it while its ready to spray. i know that once the first shot is sprayed the psi drops back down to about 700 and you have to heat it again. i am hoping tha i can open the bottle up and heat it up at the same time and just watch the psi go up to about 1150. How long does it take to warm a bottle up to the correct psi anyway. i think i am going to have the heater wired to my defrost button, that way it shuts off automatically and i don't have to worry about getting the psi too high and can be safe too.

With a good driver and your mods...high 12's is possible.

Get that bottle warmer and get her dialed in and keep us posted with the results...GL

cipher Mar 25, 2007 12:36 AM

I definetly will keep you guys posted and will get dyno'd. can i use any bottle warmer for my zex kit, or does it have to be zex. i'm looking to get a good price on one, and there are a couple Ebayers that are auctioning their NX ones. i'v e heard that the Zex ones are better, is this true?
