? on emissions requirements in Chicago???
So me and some friends are thinkin of moving out to chicago...
what are emissions requrements there... are they strict like in california.. do you have emissions checks and stuff... i wanna get rid of everything on my car and if i can loose them and not worry about it there.. then i may consider moving there more..h ehee |
We have emissions testing on our cars here, but I don't think the requirements are quite as strict as California's. Plus, the testing for new cars doesn't begin until they are four years old, so you'd have plenty of time to swap out a part or two before test time.

I'd be willing to guess that they are not nearly as strict as California. You only get tested every two years and only after the car is four years old. I've actually only ever owned one car that was old enough to be tested. It was an 8 year old Ford Ranger with 85,000 miles on it that I was using as a winter beater for a while. It passed emissions on the first try with no problems.
Also, if you want to live out in the sticks, you won't have to worry about emissions tests at all. They are only required for the counties around Chicago and St. Louis. Here's the info: http://www.epa.state.il.us/air/vim/ |
i wanna not worry about my test pipes etc at all...
looks like i might be moving out there starting MONDAY! EEEEk i live a fast passed life... :icon11: |
Don't forget to put some snow tires in your mods budget.
