I run stock sizes on my Z. I do not find that I need more tire. I run the Z1 Star Specs. I have noticed, as of late, that I do not have as much turn-in/front bite as I would like. Although, I am not ready to run a true square set up.

Well, the StopTechs ran great for 6 sessions at Waterford today. So nice not having to worry about leaks, heat, etc... Granted it was 40+ degrees outside, that probably helped to keep the temps low. But after the first session (I basically used that session to bed the pads in) - They worked flawlessly throughout the day. (DTC-70 pads front, PFC-01 rear)
My first short review about says it.. Nice modulation. They didn't seem to clamp down as quickly as the Brembos.. this allowed me to be smooth with brake inputs. This also helps to keep the ABS from kicking in under hard braking. ABS does still work when I jam on the pedal though..
Consistency. I didn't have any fade after the bed-in session. I was able to work on adjusting brake points (distance from turn in) and get expected results. The unpredictable fade of the old calipers messed with me all year. Very happy with the StopTechs.
Perty.. these babys look so nice.. The first paint chip is gonna suck (it's probably already there.. just caked in dust at the moment)
And I'm not ******* Brembo. My Brembo set was used.. and the fronts had issues. I'm still using the Brembo rears - they worked great along with the StopTechs.
It was a very nice end to the season. The weather prediction was nasty and it turned out to be a nice day. Little cold.. but dry.
--and thanks to everyone who chimed in on the tires sizes. I appreciate it.
Unfortunately, I heard someone speak about an incident at the 3 ***** event.. I hope everyone is OK.?

I was just browsing the "User Gallery" section on the 370z .com and I ran across this:
http://bonannimotorsports.wordpress....sonoma-re-cap/
Berk Tech's time attack 135i was out of commission so the driver (Mike Bonanni) ran in his stock 370Z... placed first in street tire RWD class in the wet.

Hey guys. I'm all done for the season. I definitely have plans to make it to Grattan and Gingerman next year. I really want to try those tracks. Keep me posted when 3balls, Chin or Nasa goes to them. I will gladly come out and hang out with you all again. Here are two videos from the last event at Putnam Park in Indy. This was with NASA HPDE3/4. There was a good amount of traffic all weekend due to large number of cars in the group and there being a lot of lower hp cars. Both videos are from Saturday October 9th. One of the videos, my friend Vinnie is riding with me. The weather was perfect all weekend. I couldn't have asked for a better last event. I also got signed off to run TT next year so I am really looking forward to that. Got big plans for the car over the winter to get it to the top of the TTB class. My best time for the weekend was a 1:21.6.

I just got an email from NASA. Here is the tentative schedule for the Great Lakes and Midwest region for next season if anyone is interested.
April 8-10: Mid-Ohio (GL)
April 16-16: Autobahn Country Club (MW)
May 13-15: Putnam Park (Crossover)
May 21-22: Brainerd (ML)
June 11-12: Grattan (GL)
June 25-26: GingerMan (MW)
July 15-17: Mid-Ohio (GL)
July 23-24: Autobahn Country Club (MW)
August 12-14: Mid-Ohio (Crossover)
September 8-11: NASA Championships at Mid-Ohio
September 17-18: Autobahn Country Club (Crossover)
October 7-9: Road America (Crossover)
I definitely want to make it to the Grattan in June, but I would like to go before the NASA event since I have never been there before. Hopefully 3balls or Chin will go there.

A decent amount, but not too much. I think it will end up being about 160lbs total. I'm trying to get my car closest to 3188 with me in it and half tank of fuel. That's the lowest I can go for my class weight in TT without adding points.
I am pretty sure I don't want to experience Grattan in the rain in any direction. Ha!
I can't wait to try out Grattan and Gingerman. I was actually in Grand Rapids last week for work.

Thanks! I'm technically not licensed yet. I just got signed off to run TT. I have to do one event in TT without any mishaps and then I will get an actual license. I got a lot of practice passing with no point bys and offline at the last event. I am confident I will not have any mishaps. I just have to wait until next year's first event.

Nice vids dominick! You look super fast, aggressive yet smooth.
Here's me blabbering on a friday afternoon:
So I decided to keep the the 350z for now, or more like Sarah won't let me get a track miata lol.
Planning on hitting these events next year with NASA:
May 13-15: Putnam Park
June 11-12: Grattan
July 15-17 or Aug 12-14: Mid-Ohio
Hopefully my standard brakes will last.........was looking for used brembos but may end up just getting stoptech's if I get more serious (don't want to deal with rebuilding brembos and chances of other stuff breaking). As of last event I didn't experience any fade with the carbotech pads and superblue fluid. But that's just because I'm a wuss and not pushing the car hard enough lol. Car is still way outperforming my skills anyways.
Thinking about wheel/tire setup. Still got a decent amount of life left on the RE-11's, hopefully they'll last me all of next season. Then thinking of going down to 17's, but don't think they'll clear stoptech's or any other BBK. So also considering sticking with 18's but getting black RPF1's 18x9.5 all around. But then 18" tires are super expensive. Ahhhh!!!! decisions......

As far as wheels are concerned, most (depending on the offset) 17's will clear the smaller 332mm brake kits (StopTech and others). They will not clear 14" kits (the 355mm StopTechs and so forth).
I picked up two sets of SSR's for next year that are 17x9.5 and have the 332mm StopTech fronts and 328mm rears ready to go on. Sasha up at SG Motorsports in Canada said that the smaller StopTechs are more than adequate for a Z in the stock power range.

wow perfect response ryan. I definitely look forward to what you find out. I was contemplating the 17x9.5 and 332mm brake kit
Thanks man. Looks like you're coming along quite well since I first met you at the autox
btw, what offset for the SSR's, and how did you know if it was enough?

I quoted this separately because it's important to realize what this is all about.
Developing yourself as a driver in a comfortable and safe manner, while making improvements to the car when needed, with the ultimate goal of having fun.
So Rob, as long as you're having fun, there is no need to spend thousands of dollars on the car when you don't need to. Go out there and enjoy yourself.
-end soapbox rant
