Your Z is awesome and I hope you fix it. But if you do part out Jon, let me know what you want for the wheels. :(

Thanks everyone for your PM's, I really appreciate it. I'm may be making a few phone calls.

i feel you man. It honestly does suck huge ass when you spend so much money and you still cant get perfection no matter what.

Like i said tho, before you really come to a conlusion about selling the car and parting out, get it checked out. If its something minor like clutch/flywheel retlated, fix it. If you took out th emotor, then its another bottomless pit waiting for you.

All you people are talking about money pits, are these cars really that bad?

Obviously my 350Z never breaks down because its stock, but my 300ZX TT never gave me a problem, even at 110k+ miles at 500whp, original motor, trans, etc, and daily driven. I had it for years and the only maintenance I ever had to do aside from regular oil changes was change the clutch once, but that was my fault.

Damnn Jon.. iam speechless man! you put so much effort and money ... it was definitely one of my favorites redlines!!.. I would invite so many people, non Z owners to come and check it out at our local meets... they loved it!! it was a beast for sure!... Sad to see this happen...

Dont feel alone though.. Willie is out of the game... in 2 weeks.. Iam out of the game as well... parting my Z out b4 anything major happens..... E90 twin turbo here I come!!

Again, good luck Jon! if you need any help with anything.. You got my number!. Get it checked out though.. i pray nothing big happened!

If you guys want reliable big horsepower cars you should buy something that is FI from the factory. 335 and 135i's are good for 340whp with just a JB3. Evos and STis are always good choices but some people dont like the looks of them.

350 Rookie Jul 28, 2009 07:15 AM

Or a 370z. Oh man, i want one so bad but i gotta fight the temptation.

wat? he was running 600whp ... not many cars hold up after 600whp .. even the Supra needs race gas to run 600whp ... if you think a 335 and an 135 is going to be reliable at 600whp you have another thing coming.. 350z's are even fine running 400 whp on a stock motor

I didn't realize he was pushing so much power. It seems like any Z's I've come across pushing 500whp+ have had short lives.

he probably wasn't running that daily.. but his car is capable of it

That's what i thought at first. But seeing my friend's EVO and STI, they having much trouble as FI 350z. It's just their parts are cheaper than us...

Did i ever state that a 35 motor would hold 600whp? Did i ever state anything about a supra? for 15k on a built block it should hold 600whp. Everyone gets a built block because they say they want "peace of mind" but there seems to be no peace in mind. But there are plenty of 450whp evos and Sti's running around that are daily drivers. Your right we dont know if a 35 motor from bmw is gonna be reliable at 600whp but right now it is reliable at 400whp. A C6 zo6 with bolt ons is good for almost 550whp. The the C6 gearing it would probably beat out your Z. Theres maybe a handful of guys running around on here with a stock block set up that hasnt blown or been upgraded to a built block.

Personally Id rather have a car with a little less horsepower thats a 100 times more reliable.

Maybe off a roll there losing.......

cc1012 Jul 28, 2009 10:22 AM

and when i say reliable big horsepower i mean 450-500whp not 700whp+. You got 450whp under the hood there arent to many things that will beat you on the road.

chris, your right... thats why iam making the switch to a 335i...been doing a lot of research lately.. and thats where im heading to e90post.

I wish I looked more at them when i first started modding the Z...

the blower bearings keep going bad.. I havnt driven the car in a month.. just been a pain in the ass... 335 + jb3 + intake and downpipes you at 400+ whp on 93... for under $1500...its insane..spent over 6K on the Z to reach that lol.

cc1012 Jul 28, 2009 10:41 AM

the horsepower per dollar ratio on a 35/evo/sti take a dirt wet **** all over the z/g....

you seem to think what you want is what others want.. no we don't have the same desires or goals.. if it was about hp/ per $ we would all be running fox body mustangs running 9 second 1/4 mile.. you're the only one here complaining about money for performance.. we modded our Z's because we like the Z and we wanted it to go faster.. you would be satisfied with 400 whp.. others of us are not.. and how in the hell do you know what a C6 will do with my Z .. you have no idea how much power my car is running :icon14:

Personally you would rather have a car with less hp thats a 100 times more reliable.. yeah.. alot of people would rather a stock civic that gives great gas mileage and is 1000% times more reliable :icon14:

nobody cares what you want.. we are dealing with the matter of hand here.. Jon wanted something and he got it.. its not for you to sit here and tell him what he SHOULD have done not to blow his motor.. just because he blew his motor and we are assuming he did because no one knows anything yet at 600whp doesn't mean every Z/G running over 600whp does.. alot of Z's over 600whp are running fine.. keep your B.S. to yourself or go hang out on the EVO/BMW/Subbie boards
