Z&G's Parts Dis .. what a cool guy!
 

A couple of months ago I was cleaning my pop charger, and in the process of putting it back into the car, I had to take the MAF out and remove the housing to make it a little easier.

well, my stupid ass managed to drop *both* MAF screws. I was able to find one, but the other one was long gone. I limped it over to the dealership expecting to be able to order one and they told me I could buy the entire MAF assembly for some absurd amount.. obviously I am not going to do that for a screw. I called one other dealership to verify that they absolutely cannot just get me the screw.. same deal. I emailed Nissan of N/A to see if they could hook a brotha up .. no dice!

I went to all the local hardware stores, nobody had something that fit correctly. The best I stumbled across was one at home depot that just happened to thread into it, but it still felt really lose and didn't secure it 100%, and was too long and would need to be modified etc.

I PM'ed Z&G's Parts Dis (dude from threads like these.. https://my350z.com/forum/drivetrain/...d-pricing.html), and while he hasn't gone to his supplier for a while to look for parts, he did hook me up. I figured he might be able to pull one off of a wrecked Z or something, but I knew the lack of profit would probably be an issue and I may not even get a response, lol.

He took a spare Z MAF housing into a local fastener shop and got it measured/matched a couple of screws for it. damn, champion nut and bolt wouldn't even do that for me :P

I wanted to pay the guy, he was going on his own time for some random dude on the net, but he refused. He's even mailing it at no cost. I thought he deserved a little mention for going and above and beyond for some random request for some idiot that lost some hardware. I will definitely be using him for parts requests in the future.

random update, this happened a while back, just been busy / forgot about this.

the first shipment never made it to me. he went back and got more and shipped them with my carrier of choice for whatever the shipping cost him. he rocks!

by using my home-depot bolt on one side and the oem bolt on the other, I think I strained the OEM bolt. I replaced the home depot bolt and figured at the same time, might as well swap the other one since it uses a different driver type .. and the damn bolt's head popped off. so now it's stuck there - at least it's holding the maf sensor in place well. let's hope I don't have to clean my MAF anytime soon..

any suggestions on getting the remaining bolt length out of there without stripping it all? seems like a hopeless scenario, and I should just let it ride until the need to remove it again arises. I will probably have to pony up for a new MAF housing tube. :[

i'd have to look at it... but very rarely are you SOL when it comes to broken fasteners... so long as it's not interference fit into an engine block made out of class 10 material and there's no room behind or to to either side it shouldn't be hopeless

Go to Home Depot, get a screw extractor.
It comes with a special bit to drill a small pilot hole and then use the extractor bit to remove the broken screw.

The extractor has a special head that digs into the metal when you turn counter-clocwise to remove broken or stripped screws.

you should take a pic so we can take a look.

If enough of the stud portion is exposed, you can dremel a straight line acrossed the top portion so you can use a flat head screw driver to extract it.

Or if its deep enough, you may be able to use needle nose pliers to to rotate it in whichever direction is preferably desireable

Yeah, Tacoma Screw has just about every kind of fastener than you could ever need. They also have just about every kind of specialty driver heads as well. The guys there tend to be pretty helpful in finding things for you as well.
