Default Should I cut the front grill for my FMIC in California?

Hey guys...just wondering what your opinion is. For those of you with FMIC in California, I'm running a stock front bumper. Should I cut the grill for the IC? I'd like to show the IC of course, but knowing the strict laws of Cali, I'm a bit hesitant to attract more po-po. Should I just hide it behind my factory grill then? I know performance wise it wouldn't make much difference. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

I too thought of this, but Im a bit hesitant as well. Its fine I guess the way it is. Its still visible but yet hidden at the same time so I guess i'll leave mine alone. But it does look awesome. Theres this Chicago Z or something like that, he has the Veilside lip on it with the opening cut and it looks great.

I have one and I keep it hidden, but that's because I prefer a sleeper. If you cut out the grill I would worry about parking it, not driving it.

i would cut out the grille.
i cut mine out and i don't even have a fmic, as i'm not a fan of the oem grille.

but it sounds like your more worried about police attn., however by the looks of your car, they would notice you anyways (with or without the grille).

There is a couple of reasons. 1. Haters, 2. Meter maids/cops while car is parked. I have received tickets for not having a front plate while parked. I could just imagine what kind of creative ticket they would give you if they saw something they thought was illegal. Probably worse in SoCal because they impound cars for being illegal. They most likely won't notice it while you are driving.

I'm more for the stealth look so I'd leave the grill in place. It's more a question of personal taste than anyhting else.

I would paint the IC black or leave the grille. I like the look of the silver, but as Lou says there are parts of norcal where cops are looking for that kind of thing. Mostly city cops. Your car will draw attention but a big azz silver IC will be like a flashing light saying "I'm not CARB legal". if I had a Vortec I might leave it hanging out, at least until I was stopped a couple times to show my paperwork.
