So I'm board and decided to build a ....
So as I said above I'm board and had the urge to tinker so I built a computer. I dont know who out there is a computer geek but here are the specs:
Processor: Dual Core AMD X 2 64 4400 (2.2 Ghz) W/2 MB of L2 cach (one on each core) RAM: 4 Ghz Motherboard: ASUS A8R32-MVP Delux Graffics Card's: (Yess 2 CARDS) Dual ATI Crossfire 1600 Hard drives: 2 Samsung 7200RPM 160GB SATA drives Optical Drive: Sony CD/DVD RW CD48X CDRW48X DVD32X DVDRW18X Power suply: Autosensing 110/220 50/60 Hz 600W green server power suply (idels at 450W and increases with load) OS: Microsoft XP PRO-64 Monitor: Samsung 19" DVI HDV compatable LCD 2ms refresh So yeah its a monster. Right now its overclocked by 300on the processor and 200hz on the memory. Giving the processor 2.5 Ghz and the memory almost 5 Ghz. Using ATI overoverdrive software to overdrive the videocards together they are processing 600Mhz giving it about 200+ FPS. The motherboard and bios are awsome! They have an AI link to the thermal sensors and pull back on power when the processor and motherboard start heating up too much. The on board realtek sound processor has uni-directional HD sound. I realy dont think I do much half a$$ in life. I think I have OCD or something. I couldnt stop at a cheap piddly desktop when I found out that I could build an ultimate gamming system for 1/4 of the price here. Alienware and acouple of other companies put out rigs like this for like 4K. Yeah um no not me. I was pi$$ed after I got it built. It's awsome but I dont have access to any decent games here to challange it. Just warcraft 3 and warcraft 3 frozen throne. It's all pirated here. I am not putting that crap on my system. If they find it in customs they will take the computer and drop a 5K fine. So yeah I got the tinker bug :o Oh yeah for those who know Southpark much I dubed it AWESOME-O-4000 :icon38: |
cool
how do you overclock the processors and RAM? I would like to do that with mine. I have dual core Pentium D 820's running at 2.8 each with 1MB L2 Cache running on each core, but sadly only 2G RAM |
4G of ram is way overkill. Nothing will even get close to using it but it still rocks. I have 3G for no reason other than that was the max and so that's what I put in it. Another thing, with that system as incredible as it is you have got to go SCSI. SATA just doesn't cut it, especially the 7200rpm. I have two 15K rpm SCSI drives striped with a 320ultra controller and it is faster than you would believe.
You really need to get into the Halflife games. Halflife Source, Counterstke Source, etc. You can buy and download them from Fileplanet.com. Do a search Steam. Great comp... |

Refering to this mobo inparticular. Its jummper free and the bios controls voltage gates. |

There is a lot more toys I havnt unlocked yet. looking at watercooling it. All total with the monitor I built it for $1200ish. Looking at getting the ATI Physix card. Heard good reviews about it but its limited on what it plays on right now. |
I decided to activate a feature AI NOS. Wich stands for Non-delay Overclocking System. Basickly it over clocks only when the CPU is under a load that requires a higher CPU speed than available.
You set it from %5 to %60 in %5 incraments. So I have it set to %20 on demand. This greatly extends an overclocked CPU's life. Instead of a %50-%60 life expectancy from an over clocked chip you now have arround %90 of its life. I dont see any diffrence in preformance with this feature than the other overclocking I did. The amazing thing it the CPU has stayed with in 12C of room temp with the factory dual heatsink/ heat pipe/ fan combo. So over all I'm pretty stoked about it. Cant wait the let her legs stretch to see what she can do. Edit: Mobo Specs http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...42&modelmenu=1 |
