That's the "crossover breather" hose. The end sticking out the front of the engine is supposed to be attached to the driver's side valve cover. That hose attaches the L and R valve covers to equalize...

take the exhaust on drivers side down, get a dead blow hammer and hit the bucket...i have even stepped on the bucket to get it to go down. you will need an alignment after so it doesnt really matter...
