Hotly debated but in my opinion yes. It has been pretty much shown that airflow to the back cylinders is not ideal with the OEM plenum only. And, it is not expensive nor labor intensive.

I've got 158,000 on my '03 and it still runs like a champ, although it does burn a quart of oil every 2500 miles or so. Been fairly maintenance free for 14 years now....

Sounds logical. I was blowing coil packs right and left and it turned out to be a bad ground connection. Fortunately I isolated it myself and since then, not a single problem.
